The reason the gate card will work through the windows on some cars and not on others is because of the height of your vehicle. Some vehicles sit too high, some too low, and some just right.

Traditional Gate Cards: The legacy "window wave" proximity cards use a standard 125 kHz low-frequency RFID chip (specifically matching the legacy T5577 format). This is why third-party "stealth chips" hidden in side-mirror housings must use 125 kHz cloners to function.

So again , 4~6 INCHES is where you need to be for your gate card to work …
Of course the system in the Villages does not currently use those stickers! This thread is about an upgrade to the current system!

- The upgrade will allow the use of long range UHF stickers
- The stickers are expected to be available at a cost of $20
- UHF stickers are available on Amazon at less than $0.50 each
- The specifications for the inexpensive stickers available on Amazon indicate that they will work at 25’ or more

I think you are correct. But, some vehicles have a different curvature of the glass, different thickness, and different tinting. Also, not all gates have the exact same power setting for the wireless signal. But, one thing that is absolutely certain. It does NOT work for all situations.

I'd pay 5 times that much per year to keep the non residents out of the pool.

We need better security.

Yeah, and all three times, multiple people have told you that it doesn't work in their cars.

Did you not read those replies?

I already responded the that suggestion. Even when my tires are a few inches away from the curb at most gates, I still have to roll down my window and stick my arm out.

You'd know that if you actually read the posts in this thread, like you suggested others do.

Also, did you know that there are two types of cards? The older, thicker cards and the newer, thinner cards (about the thickness of a credit card). The newer cards DO NOT work thru the window of either my or my wife's car, no matter how close we get to the reader at the majority of the gates in TV. Does that make it clear to you that "just hold it up to the window", or "get closer" DOESN'T WORK?

I have a sedan and my wife has an SUV. Neither work. I guess we're just not Goldilocks, who has found a vehicle that's "just right".

Works on every gate I've been through...lived here for four years. I only speak from my experience. Don't need to test it on all vehicles...glass is glass. And, yes, my windows are tinted.

Since you are a newbie, you may not know that all glass is not the same.
Many cars come with acoustic glass, which may affect how the transmitter works.
