Arrived down town tonight for dinner later than we usually would so we were driving up & down the aisles looking for parking. I saw someone kneeling on the ground with a flashlight obviously looking for something and a man standing nearby that appeared to be holding his head as if he was hurt. I immediately stopped the car & put my flashers on. I wasn't blocking the way only a parked car or 2 with no one in them. Turns out the man had tripped going up the curb and smashed his head into the building (no he wasn't drunk) and there was a lot of blood on the ground. He was looking feverishly with his wife for his car keys so he could get to urgent care. As we were attempting to help this couple. a woman came up and said "though I'm sorry about your accident I want to get my car out" Needless to say my husband and I were speechless. I told her I just had to get the man in my car to get him to urgent care. She was already in her car and backing up car by the time we walked over to mine. This couple had been there for a while and commented more than once how many people had passed but didn't stop to help.
The good news 5 staples later and all is well. The bad news for me. I feel like The Villages has become just like the rest of the world. I used to think we were different:: ![]() ![]() |

OP, I agree, thank you for helping. If something happened to me, I would be very happy if you happened to be coming by! Karma comes around, you will be rewarded.

You could just have easily avoided that problem by doing both things correctly...help the person(wonderful)and making sure your car wasn't blocking anyone. It reminds me of people who stop to let a car out from a side street and while thinking they're doing the kind thing forget there are others behind her that equally deserve her attention by just obeying traffic laws and not holding them up so they can do their "good deed". You could and should have done both things and not look for a reason to blame someone else. How do you know that they didn't have a DR's appt or a sick person back at their house??????? |
