Do new homes in The Villages have fiber optics into the homes or do they still rely on copper? What is the fastest internet speed offered by the local cable providers?

There is fiber to the houses south of 466a, BUT if I recall correctly, it is only used by one supplier, NOT Comcast, but not sure which one it is as I do not use them.

We have Blast Plus from Comcast and get 65 mbps on the wired in desktop computer and about 40 mbps on the wi-fi laptop in the next room. It's not the fastest that they offer but it is excellent for both of us and we never have any delay in opening web pages or surfing. We are on our computers a lot.

Hi Tom,
We were able to stream 2 Hi-Def shows via Netflix at the same time with 10 Mbits/sec nominal download performance with CenturyLink. We are at 40 Mbits/sec download now (20 Mbits/sec upload). The 40 Mbits/sec is a bit of an overkill but we got a good deal from CenturyLink. They offer 100 Mbits/sec but I can't really see a need. Quote:

Hey there Allentown! I was told there isa broken "fiber optics" line here on the "historic"side but when I spoke to the service fella, he said it was just a copper regular line! I believe him since he works on our lines all the time. Don't know of yours,t good luck!
