Simple solution - leave your cars registered in your former state (or another tax and insurance friendly state).

I did not have to take any drivers license test. Simply gave them my old one, they cut a corner off of it, gave it back along with my new FL drivers license.

Yep. Getting a florida drivers license was easy. They held a mirror up to my nose, it fogged a little, and before i knew it picture time!

I just registered my car this week and got a Florida drivers license. The license fee is partially based on the weight of your vehicle. If the vehicle is titled out of state there is an additional fee for issuing a new title. It cost me $485.00 for license and vehicle registration. The only good thing is you can register your vehicle for two years. I would recommend getting a list of documents required to complete the documents. You need two pieces of identification not including your out of state drivers license.

Florida doesn't have a State Income tax so they have "other" fees or taxes you pay. In short, The money to run State Government has to come from some place and newbees to the State is one of those places. In most cases, $500.00 covers the cost of registering your vehicle in the State of Florida.
