Default Bands and people who were big 20-30 yrs ago

Someone asked the question regarding why we pay to see them.

For me, they bring back wonderful memories of time, place, relationships as well as enjoying and appreciating a good entertainer. Yes, they are old and past their peak but somehow that makes it more special. I've grown older with them. They are from my generation. This may be my last chance to see and hear them live again.

If I felt overcharged for a ticket or an event was not worth it, I very simply wouldn't go.

Are others offended by the older groups coming here or the price per ticket?

Or Jefferson Starship?

Or so many other wonderful groups.

I think you mean 40 to 50 years ago......20 was 1996 and 30 was 1986

Interesting thread. In the past year, I've seen (for my first time, ever) Gordon Lightfoot and Loretta Lynn (at the Sharon) live in concert. I'm headed for Felix C.'s Rascals this weekend, also for the first time. NONE of us is getting younger, and I'm just blown away by the chops most of these older artists still possess! And their love & passion for their craft just shines through. I just feel blessed that they're still with us, let alone being able to see them perform "live".

We are just so lucky to have these performers come to The Villages and do their thing. We are not a community that wants to see Kenya West or some hip hop show.

still it would be nice to get some "younger" acts. Bruce Hornsby has a solo tour he does for small venues. I'd love to see him come here.

What is wrong with hip hop? I assume you are speaking for yourself or is the "we" based on some survey?

Nothing is wrong with hip hop if that's your thing but I seriously doubt there's much demand for it in TV. One can't spell crap without RAP.

I wonder if some of those groups are still so popular they play at larger venues than we have here.

The Beginnings band, re Chicago tribute, playing at the Savannah tonight.

Saw them last year and they were dynamite. If you close your eyes, you wouldn't know the difference.

BTW - Chicago is still performing.
