I have had golf cart drivers pass me so tightly, I could reach out and grab their mirror. That is just incredibly dangerous. My other pet peeve is coming around a 90 degree bend in the trail and being face to face with a golf cart in the wrong lane.

If a cart passing you bothers you that much, you are the one with the problem.

My cart cannot go faster than the legal speed limit of 20mph, but I get passed all the time by some Yamaha that will do 23mph. There is a reason for the 20mph limit - the brakes, suspension etc of a golf cart is not designed to be safe at speeds faster than this.
Bull. The carts are engineered to be safe at more than 20. Just like you car is safe at speeds over 70.

I live in a courtyard villa so there is no room between the front of my property and the street. Golf carts coming speeding down the road from the next subdivision nearly knocking me over when I am pulling weeds even when I am on my property and not on the street.

But this causes even less time to be around for the speeder and those the speeders run into. Think about this. You'd think SENIORS would show more wisdom...

I am amazed at the rude, stupid comments. The rules are always being ignored, especially in speeding golf carts. Enforce the rules and you get obedience, especially when you hit them in the wallet. I ran my car and my golf cart and it runs about 19 to 20 miles an hour, which is appropriate. I wish the cops would beef up their coffers with tickets for speeders, they deserve it.

If you open up your Villages GPS and plug in your chosen destination, you'll see your speed on the lower left corner of the cell phone. It tracks that stuff. Pretty handy.

The illegal carts have become the rule rather than the exception. Very poor enforcement by the sheriff's department. I wonder why.

Your batting 0 for 2. It's considered driving an unregistered vehicle and is a second degree misdemeanor with fines up to $500 and 60 days in jail. Normally first offense at the courthouse in Bushnell is about $450 and no jail time. Don't wear shorts or you'll sit all day in court and be called last. Also you'll need to bring a letter from a golf cart mechanic certifying your cart has been dialed back to the legal speed of less than 20 mph.
