Default Great 4th of July Entertainment at LSL Tonight

Today was the first time (and hopefully not the last time) that I was able to spend Independence Day in TV. The entertainment at LSL tonight provided by Aloha 'O Ka Hula Dance Troupe, The Villages Twirlers and Drum Corps and The Villagers Cheerleaders was great! Kudos to these groups!

Two of the ladies in The Villages Twirlers did a routine with what looked like batons on fire on both ends -- excellent! Were those batons actually on fire on the ends?

Best 4th of July I have had in several years.

They were indeed on Fire.

This group is awesome and seems to be getting better.

That's great. We went to Spanish Springs to see what was going on and they had a computer operator on the gazebo so we left.

No fireworks on his computer screen?

How long have you been out of Schaumburg? The area had some excellent Fourth happenings.

I still question how they call this live entertainment.

I couldn't agree more. Although I don't like it very much, even the solo artists with their band in a box are better than having a DJ.

Probably would be worth complaining about it if you had to pay for it. But since it's free...well?

While I agree totally that some/most DJ's are not really "live entertainment", I have to exempt Scooter the DJ from that description. He is one of the most popular acts in The Villages, and has been since we've been living here (two years). Yes, technically he's a DJ, but he has an act that keeps the people dancing and having a good time.

I believe technically; the Villagers are paying for the entertainment via the amenities fees.

There is an entertainment calendar that can be reviewed prior to driving the cart down to the square (only to find out it is a DJ that you do not care for). If people do not attend shows with good support, they will most likely hire a different act in the future.

I agree, Scooter has always been a lot of fun and his shows are well attended.

No amenities fees are used to pay for entertainment on the square's.

I have no problem with most DJs. I like that they can play any song you want.
I think it's awesome that we have 3 squares with free music every night of the year. That gives everyone a choice to choose which square they want to go to to hear the music they want to hear.
Everyone has different tastes and likes different entertainers. I feel blessed that we live in a place like this with so many choices.
I love it !!! Have an awesome day everyone !

Somebody pays----its not free in that sense. TV needs professional fireworks on the 4th of July IMHO. Some organization should step up as a sponsor. Going outside the bubble doesn't seem right.

Best 4th of July I have had in several years.
We started our Fourth of July out at the Veterans Memorial Park watching the very nice and quiet moving Independence Day ceremony. Then took off in our cart and we went around to all of the Squares yesterday morning and took our time enjoying each other and the day.

We got to see the hula dancers practicing their routine at Sumter Landing. I love this addition to the entertainment. I know one of the cheerleaders and she is such a sweetheart. They dedicate a lot of time practicing their routines.

We went back to Spanish Springs and Sumter Landing later in the night to enjoy the entertainment. We danced at both squares and had a super nice Fourth of July and we are still enjoying the weekend and hope you are too.
