I love all the excitement that the "saving chairs discussions" bring to these posts. While I do not condone saving more than 1 chair, I don't get my blood pressure boiling when I know there is going to be a greater than usual crowd at SS or LSL on the busy days like Market Night or when Scooter comes to entertain us.

I put 2 bag chairs into the back of my golf cart, pack a cooler with some tasty beverages and munchies, and my wife and I toodle down to the squares in our golf cart for some entertainment. Never a problem when you bring your own chairs. No walking around looking for available chairs, no confrontations, no heart palpitations or getting upset or stressed out. I left all that craziness and stress on my last day of work.

Come on Villagers!! We all know pretty quickly when the Squares are busier than usual, don't get frustrated or mad, make small adjustments, life is too short.

Great post and I concure (with the exception of Scooter the DJ). Everytime I hear that "McDonald's, KFC, and Pizza Hut" song it gets stuck in my head for a week.

The cloth chairs even have a cup holder for a can of tasty beverage!

buzzy, here's the route:

- Click on 'User CP'

- Under 'Settings and Options' at the left, click 'Edit Options'

- Scroll down til you see the 'Thread Display Options' box (center of the page). Within that section, you'll see the 'Number of Posts to Show Per Page' option. It'll show what your current setting is. Click on the 'down arrow' at the right of it and select a different number if you'd like to change it.

- Important last step if you modified your Number of Posts - scroll clear to the bottom of the Options and click 'Save Changes'.

Hope that helps!

Dang it. I did not go far enough down that list. However, I may have at one point, since it was already set on 40, the max. Thanks again.

Note to admin, can you provide a larger option than 40? hehe

Cool Re: Florida's Friendliest Home Town

Well, it goes to show you.....you can label anything, BUT, one's true colors always some through......the majority of Village people are retired and have sore feet....we're all looking for a place to sit.....especially in the shade.

Not the 40 something crowd or very early 50sh retirees. But pushing 70's.
And beyond.

I'll bet not too many want to hoof down to the squares when it's high humidity in the summer months.......only to find no seating.

Again, people who "fly in" do not have portable chairs. Maybe the TV owners should spend on some extra chairs ; that should please everyone, especially those who cannot walk far after having to park a long distance away....or those who are doing the lifestyle visit, again having flown in.
Very, very seldom are there no available chairs at either Lake Sumter Landing or Spanish Springs squares in the summer months. The residents in the summer know which groups are most popular and when to bring their own chairs in the golf cart. There is not such a thing as a "long distance" for parking in either location. Longest trek would be about 2 blocks.

Sorry, but many older and some younger retirees are not capable of walking over several hundred feet, never mind 2 blocks. Should these people just stay home and leave the squares with the entertainment to only the fit and able? Should they just stay home during the "peak" season? Should prospective buyers only come for a visit during the summer unless they are young and/or physically fit, driving in only so they can bring chairs? Should any visiting family/friends only come in the summer months?

Sorry, but rude is not seasonal and saving rows of chairs for those who might show up is rude and not what TV prides itself for as friendly. We were taught at a very early age that sharing with others is expected and the right thing to do.

I see no problem with the powers that be eliminating the chairs at both squares for ALL events. Everyone here can afford to go to Wal-Mart and spend $10 for a chair, even if you are on a LSV. I know they spend much more than that on drinks that are gone in a few minutes. If the chairs were eliminated, that would cut expenses by not having to have people set up and take down chairs each and every day. It would definitely cut out the saving of seats. As for the people that come to rent for a month or two, there is no reason we should supply them with a place to sit. They can go to Wal-Mart too.

This is a retirement community, and there are many retirees with disabilities and diseases. To expect them to tote chairs around is just plain silly.

I always though that if they were to paint a line about 2 foot in front of the low wall around the squares and say no chairs against the wall that would give them about 200 more places to sit on the wall, It seems such a waist to see chairs against the wall when people could be sitting there, Any thoughts

My thoughts.... If they remove one row of chairs against the wall (2 ft), then all of those displaced folks have to sit somewhere else ...maybe on the wall!

Net gain = 0.
