Default Front Yard signs?

As one drives through neighborhoods...you typically do not see any front yard signs other than For Sale...with the occasional For Rent signs.

However, lately there have been more and more signs going up...political mostly....but I was under the impression that there were rules in regards to this. Most people have their political signs....and even their For Rent signs...in the windows of their golf cart or the front windows of their home.

Does anyone know the "rule" or covenant in regards to this?

Just curious.

thanks

I think the newer your village the stricter the covenants. We are south of 466 and from what I understand, you are not suppose to have anything outside your roof line ( signs, fountains, etc). It seems like signs are allowed north of 466 , and just about anything in the Historic Area. (i may be wrong though, just going by observation).

With the exception of For Sale or For Rent signs, no others are permitted in yards except maybe in the historical section. Political signs in our village are displayed in windows. I think the Village Watch (or whoever they are today) may be the watch dogs for violations such as this.

Cassie, from what I understand no political signs on the lawn regardless of where you live. Check with Community Watch. However, I have seen For Rent signs on the lawns in Santiago and Santo Domingo.

Thanks Red!! The closer we get to election the more we see....I am certainly all for showing ones pride or opinion or affliation to a certain party....BUT....the rules are the rules....must obey the rules! Actually I just think it looks bad on the lawns.....

I figure the signs help aerate the lawns, so let 'em have their say. They might do some good for the grass -- certainly aren't going to change anyone's mind one way or the other. I've never quite understood the need to advertise something as private as your vote to the world but that's me.

That is an interesting way of looking at it....perhaps we should go collect all of the signs in Santiago and Santo Domingo....and place them all over the yards with the brown grass...there are a few.....

I guess the political signs are a lot better then what other people have....guess I would rather look at McCain and Obama's name for a few more days....then something tacky and permanent....

Bogie Shooter. Nice to see someone taking advantage of the Deed Restrictions that I uploaded for posting there.

But be careful on this one. You see, county ordinances might take precedence on this issue. As I understand it, some of the roads within TV are County maintained/owned. And that roadway includes a certain amount of footage on either side which is sometimes commonly referred to as a “Tree Belt”.

So if the County allows the placement of political signs during election periods on County owned land, and those signs are place in this so called “Tree Belt” area, TV may be powerless to enforce the sign restrictions regardless of the Deed Restrictions.

Which is why I stated it was North of 466 and I wasn't sure if there were different rules in the different counties.

I also know that at any time we can all call the CDD or the customer service line for TV's....but it really is nice to get our information on here...as there are different points of view....or understanding of the rules....isn't that what makes TOTV such a great place to come?
