Full Time residence vs snowbirds
How can I find out the % of FT residents vs Snowbirds in each village? Considering moving to TV but don't really want to end up in a village where most of the houses are empty half the year.

Re: Full Time residence vs snowbirds
It is just the luck of the draw. From our experience, many of the Patio Villas and Courtyard Villas are occupied by part-time residents some of whom are simply month by month rentals, as well as snow birds.
However, you will also find all other homes have their number of snow birds as well. Ranch homes will have rentals as well but the larger, more espensive homes will not be used as rentals unless the Villages uses them for the lifestyle plan. I live in courtyard villas and I am guessing that 40% of our villas are NOT occupied for about five months a year, some even more. Some people buy them as vacation homes and only visit from time to time. Others buy them in anticipation of becoming snow birds. I don't think you can go to each village and find data such as you want. You will just have to take he same chance the rest of us did. Personally, even with all the rentals and snow birds, I love my very friendly neighborhood. Best of luck to you. :beer2:

Re: Full Time residence vs snowbirds
Once you are here, you will find wonderful friends that are snowbirds. It is always fun to anticipate their return in the fall. The snowbirds of today probably will be the full-timers of tomorrow. Find the house you absolutely can't walk away from without putting a counter offer on, and enjoy the anticipation of meeting wonderful people, whether they are renters year after year, snowbirds, or full-timers.

Technically, I Guess We're Snowbirds, But...
...my wife and I really consider The Villages home. This was the first year we did "the snowbird thing", returning to what has been our summer home on Lake Michigan in southwest Michigan in time for Memorial Day. (Home for about forty years was a north shore 'burb of Chicago with lots of time spent in Michigan.) We headed back the day after the Michigan-Notre Dame game in mid-September. We've already decided that next year we'll reduce our stay up north from the Fourth of July until just after Labor Day. Who knows what future year's plans might be? Our trek to the northland won't be any longer, of that we're certain. Make no mistake...The Villages is home!
And Kitris was right. Our full-time neighbors greeted our return as if we were long-lost relatives. One couple visited us in Michigan. We're planning on several more of our Villages friends and neighbors visiting us on the big lake next summer.

Re: Full Time residence vs snowbirds
Since we own property in Duval and in Illinois, some consider us snowbirds. But snowbird has a negative conotation to some people. Thus, since I pay full fare in both states, I am here by proclaiming that I am not a snowbird, I am BI-RESIDENTIAL !!!!!!!!!!
