Talking Fulltimers' Summer in TV

I would be a fulltimer in TV and I can't help but wonder what life is like during the summer months. Of course it would be impossible to guarantee who your neighbors would be....... but I'd sure like to have fulltimers around me because that's one of the primary reasons for living in TV, to socialize with and network with neighbors all-year-round.

So, fulltimers...... can you tell me what your summer day is like? Can you tell me about your neighborhood in terms of occupancy? I'm considering a Lifestyle Preview in the summer or early fall

CIB:

I'm a year-rounder. The weather is no worse than what I was used to in St. Louis: hot and sticky most of the time.

But, I think it is less oppressive at night, probably because there aren't so many high-rise, heat holding buildings. Anyway, I find it really quite berable, whereas St. Louis often was not.

Highs stick to 90-95, lows in the 70s. June begins "the rainy seaso." One June was a record-setter, the next one was as dry as a good martini!

I saw not too long ago that only 30% of Villagers are seasonal. So, there's still a good crowd here. But, enough fewer that eating at a restaurant is far, far less of a hassle. Wait-times are shorter, sometimes non-existent; depends when you go.

My street has no snowbirds at all. I know of very few in the wider neighborhood. I think it pretty unlikely that you'd find an empty street all summer!

CIB For someone from the niether lands or Oregon, you will be happy to see the snowbirds leave and get some peace and quiet back in your life for a few months. You can always go to the square or Urban Flats for your daily fix of networking and meeting people. And Katie Bells will always be an option as well. You will find your neighbors are great, but you end up doing more things with people you meet who live in some other neighborhood. You just need to get there while you can still enjoy everything. Stop being a wannabee and just do it. Life is to short not to be enjoying it.

I live in a patio villa year round and we do have many snowbirds. It is interesting though - it's sad to see neighbors leave but it's fun to look forward to their returning and our first social being all together again. I really like the decrease in traffic in the summer months.

Last year was my first summer in TV and I didn't find it difficult or uncomfortable at all. I use my lanai a lot and so you tend to spend more time outdoors. If you have errands to run you do them early or late in the day. I find in my neighborhood (Amelia) that the Frogs are friendlier with the snowbirds gone. For some reason many snowbirds don't get in the spirit of TV and remain uptight and unsociable. Many afternoons you can expect a rain shower or thunderstorm right around 3:00 or 4:00 but usually no big deal. I find the Midwest with all it's bugs and oppressive humidity more uncomfortable in summer than Central Florida.

Come on down and give it a try - - - you just might really like it.

I agree, Pa summers have lots more bugs and steamy humidity that hangs over the valleys for weeks. Here it's always in the low 90's, rains almost every afternoon, almost always a nice breeze.... I LOVE the summer months. We have some snowbirds as neighbors but since I work 4 days a week I don't notice the difference. The greatest fun is hopping on the cart at 7pm for a refreshing dip in the pool each night... always a lot of FROGS still there then to socialize with.

I am not a full timer by any means..We typically visit our home in TV in the warm weather, why is that?? NO CLUE!!

I love the heat, neighbors, and all there is to do...

One day I hope, it will be year round..

I fear thou dost overstate the case. However, one of the great things about TV is if you want to spend all day in a refrigerated box . . . we don't care.

Enjoy!

Spent 25 of the last 30 years in CentFL year-round, and it's wonderful. The old bones and joints don't ache as much, and the "quiet" is fantastic. No lines for anything.
