Default Market night at Lake Sumter Landing: Defective watch

I bought a watch about 3 weeks ago on Lake Sumter Landing, market night.
The very same day it stopped working. It was 1/2 hour behind. So I reset it and it seemed to be working fine. Then about a week later, it was 5 min. slow. Again I reset it and it seemed okay. Days later it was behind by about 1/2 hour.

When I bought it I didn't get a receipt. Should I go back and ask for another watch? There doesn't appear to be any way to replace the battery.

Any suggestions?

years ago we used to make 'knock off ' runs to seoul before us customs stopped it. I always wore a knock off rolex until it quit keeping good time. some times it would last a year or so. other times not so long! moral of the story is buyer beware. you get what you pay for.

Unless it's a solar or self-winding model that has no battery, he'll probably just replace the battery for free. Takes him two minutes. At the worst, charge you $3 for it.

Yes, I would go back to the vendor, and hope for either a refund or replacement. Also, have them show you how to replace the battery. If this is a self-winding (aka no battery), then you may need to move the watch some more so that it winds completely, or make sure you wear it every day.

it has been my experience that those sellers will do almost anything to make their customers happy. Every battery can be replaced.

My wife bought a watch from that same vendor. It started losing time after a few months so we brought it back. They replaced the battery, no charge and gave her an additional battery at no cost.

The backs of watches are attached in different ways. The vendor has all the tools to remove the back and replace the battery.

Ah, memories. About 2 weeks after I was assigned to the 2nd Infantry Division in Korea in the early 70's, I was approached by a street vendor who was selling "Seiko" watches. I needed a new watch so I took a good look at his watches. Seiko was spelled wrong (Seeko). When I pointed it out, he told me they were "best quality Korean Seiko watches". I passed on the watch but I did buy a pack of gum.

Thanks to everyone for your replies.

I'll go back and see what happens, providing "market night" doesn't get rained out like it did last week.
