Keep growing and get a multi purpose path connected to Disney. Then I will sell my electric cart and buy a gas model. We came here as Lake Sumter was getting a good start. If that would have been the end of development, we would be very disappointed. I grew up in a small town where everyone knew everyone else and it had some good points for children, but like most small communities, we had our home town drunk and worse, our small town gossip. As we grow, the drunks blend in and the worst Gossips loose their power. Embrace our size and appreciate the fact that you can always find YOUR special club, group, friends and entertainment. The villages is wonderful and gets better with every new neighborhood.

The above quote, (#23) is about the wisest post I think I have ever read on TOTV.

A very smart inspector once told me that land will always find it's best needed or wanted purpose. If land IS going do be developed due to demand, I would rather see it developed by a quality developer. I personally think the Villages just keeps getting better. They know their customers needs and wants and seem to offer something for everyone.

One thing I think might need to be considered sometime down the road is more options for family communities. Despite what folks think, these are also needed. Outside the bubble, high end family communities are being built and sold like crazy. The Villages charter school is MILES away from anywhere the Villages is now building.

Retired over 55 folks need services. Those services need qualified people. Those people want to live somewhat close to where they work.

Before some get all riled up over the above statement, these family communities would have their OWN ammenities, and would not interfere with the normal Villages lifestyle.

IMHO, the fact that we have unique Villages and they are immaculately maintained gives us a sense of pride.
Most Villages have golf courses, an adult pool and a family pool.
Restaurants and shopping are usually available by golf cart.
Life is very good in The Villages.

What can be simpler to understand than this—and yet too many people want to close the door behind them now that they're here. Let's face it: The North is moving to the South. We have friends who bought into a small community in Groveland, where they got much more house and land than they had had in south FL. However, at some point the developer walked away, leaving a club house that was the Taj Mahal on the outside and Mold Heaven on the inside. Our friends were fortunate that their home had been completed; others homes were left in the middle of construction. It took FIVE YEARS until another developer came along and picked up the mess. The developer of TV is obviously doing something right....

Why too is this so difficult for many to understand? Workers have to live somewhere.... Yes, more family villages would be a help, but not all economic levels of workers can necessarily afford those.

I could not agree more. I live between 466 and 466A, and no matter how much construction is going on, my neighborhood is not changing! Whether development is whatever it is on the other side of Fenney (mentioned by an earlier poster) that's part of TV or developments right across Rainey Trail from TV—Lakeside Landings which is growing and a smaller development further down the road on the right toward US-301, the point is that development will continue as long as there's a demand for it, whether it's TV or elsewhere.

Excellent post Frank. However, I have two medical specialists who have moved from major cities and major hospitals to live the good life here, neither one was able to find a suitable home in TV. They both have children of varying ages in the TV school system, but they both had to build outside TV to get the homes and green space they needed. With the purchase of the many acres the Developer has, they may well have something on the drawing board for professionals in this income level. For instance, I know there is an equine development north of here where the house lots are 10 acres, if I know this then so does the Developer. The Developer is pretty savvy and I am sure he knows what the neighborhood needs in the way of homes.

I am looking forward to seeing TV develop and change through the years and I, for one, am not going anywhere!
