Yesterday and today, came home and garage door was wide open. I checked to be sure the door was down when I left this morning because of yesterday - again door wide open when I returned.
Who should I call to correct this problem? |

The security code on your garage door needs to be re-programed to a different setting. It sounds like someone in your area has a garage door programed to the same code as yours. So when they push their remote it opens your door. Call a garage door company.

I had the same problem. It can most likely be solved by replacing the controller on the wall. That solved my problem. I was told they go bad with age! I believe this part was less than $30 from the part dept at the garage door installer company.

352-207-5668 RYAN. Great guy fairly priced, no nonsense, fixed quickly & properly the first time. Until he get there close the door and unplug the opener. Your Ford Pinto will be fine outdoors overnight. Lol. Good luck.

Your garage door controller wall station has learned a neighbor's transmitter (remote opener) code. This problem has happened to me and several of my neighbors over the years. We all have the MVP Allstar garage door opener system, which is widely used in The Villages. There's a procedure for erasing the codes currently stored in the wall station's memory and then re-learning ONLY your remote's code. I've re-programmed several of these for my friends and neighbors. If you'd like to learn how to do-it-yourself here's a link to the Manual for this unit.
http://www.linearcorp.com/pdf/manuals/111069FX1.pdf Page 12 has the instructions for erasing and re-learning transmitter codes. You'll also need to re-program your Wireless Keyless Entry keypad. Here's a link to the manual for doing that. http://www.linearcorp.com/pdf/manuals/111214B.pdf In the meantime you can disable the opener by moving the switch located near the bottom of the controller to the "locked" position. I had the same problem in Michigan with my opener, it turns out that I replaced the incandescent bulb with the new CFL bulb (energy efficient florescent bulb). It gave off a frequency (even when turned off) and opened my garage door in the middle of the night. If you put CFL bulbs in your opener to save money that may be the problem.
Here you may get a snake in your garage, In Michigan I had to use the snow blower to remove all the snow that blew in during the night. |

You can log into youtube.com and type in how to program your MVP Allstar remote, very simple. It will be a video you can follow.

We need to remember that the brain is the unit hanging in the garage. It remembers what is was told. If it is misbehaving it is because it remembers something bad that it was taught right or wrong. Fortunately it can be untaught with in a pin in the wall control unit. But normally the bad actor is the hand held control. All to often , they are coded the same in neighborhoods with a similar code. Give the handhelds a unique cod and all should be well when you clear the brain and give the new units access.

Another option...call the number on your MVP opener. They will walk you through the fix.

![]() THIS IS IMPORTANT: You must erase all old codes in the receiver (see page 12) or the problem will continue, even if you add a new code. Read and follow the instructions. The first time I changed the code in the receiver I did not erase the old code(s) so the problem continued.
