I don't think there is any rule against putting a trash can out. I do wonder why the trash collectors are leaving it. It's been a few years since I read the "rules" and I think it warned that anything left out would be taken, so advised to use bags. But, I could be wrong.

I'm sure you will agree there is nothing more "dignified" than when birds and other critters peck away at the bags and your secrets are all over the street.

I continue to use Walmart bags. The price is right and I am cheap.

Do you have any idea how much damage TV is doing to the environment by not providing trash cans as opposed to requiring residents to use plastic bags?
It's actually shameful!
First, "the powers that be" our the residents.

Second, I don't think there is ANY rule about having to use plastic, I know many people that use paper which costs most but is certainly more environmental.

I am pretty sure TV is not doing ANY damage to the environment, it's the people that choose to use plastic. Buy paper if you want, it's your choice. Also, would you expect "TV" to provide trash cans the life? I mean, if someone steals yours, do the rest of us have to buy you a new one? If you move and take yours do we have to buy the new owner one? I prefer to take care of my trash my self and not have to pay for your solution, ie. I like the way it is done here.

I believe white, black, or clear plastic bags are okay for trash pickup.

So are you saying that if TV provided garbage cans you wouldn’t use a trash bag in it? That is pretty disgusting!

our family has a good relationship with out sanitation workers. we chat, leave $$tips on holidays & bring out cold drinks when they seem washed out. in return, they walk the can back up the driveway & leave it in the nook where no one can see it. AND it;s done with a bright smile, no less. we're lucky to have the same team of guys doing the run here, very hard working & professional. do you get the same ones too, or you prob don't notice?

Our trash guys are terrific and seem to appreciate that we keep our trash to a minimum, unlike some people who have 4 or 5 kitchen garbage bags out there twice a week. Y'all use paper plates all the time or something? I swear I can't figure out how two retired older adults who don't throw parties can accumulate SO much trash all year round.
yes! paper plates, plastic jugs, wee-wee pads & cartons from take-out.we have a LOT of trash, not including the amazon boxes

someone a few quotes back spoke of leaving the can out during the night &/or following day: that's the key. get it back inside asap so it doesn't look nasty for the neighbors, stink, or attract whatever. it's not something to be taking advantage of

We have a large plastic trash can with lid in the garage. A large black trash bag is used to line the inside of the can. On trash day we simply close and tie off the plastic bag, remove it from the can and drop the bag at the edge of the drive. Just that easy. No fuss, no mess, no bugs. Problem solved.

You probably don’t think there are mosquitoes or rats in the villages either.

Doesn't matter what I think, what matters is if they are getting into my trash when I put it out the night before. They aren't.

Maybe there are no mosquitoes in my area. Maybe the mosquitoes like the trash two doors down. Maybe the mosquitoes are around but they are polite enough to not spread the trash. The end result is the same - putting the trash out the night before is not a problem in my particular neighborhood.

In today’s VHA insert in the paper: “As new homeowners in The VillGe of McClure on Biller Circle, we understand that trash cans are not permitted. However, several homeowners are using trash cans, which the sanitation workers empty and place back at the curb. Are trash cans now permitted?” Carrie Duckett: “Per the Declaration of Restrictions, trash cans are not permitted. To report a potential violation, contact Community Standards at 352-751-3912.”

If you go out 466A through Fruitland Park and see all the trash cans sitting and lying by the road, you will understand the NO TRASH CAN rule. Theirs are sitting out there days at a time. And you think this looks good.
I love the system we have now.
