We came down for LSV in March and ended up buying a house in Sanibel. One night we were out cruising around in the Lifestyles golf cart and got lost. It got cold so we zipped ourselves in the cart. I was sick for 24 hours from the exhaust fumes inside the enclosure. Turns out the cheap carts that come with Lifestyles exhaust right under the cart. In May we bought a new Yamaha gas cart from the villages cart place at LSL. They put an exhaust pipe extension on all of their carts that gets the exhaust out from under the cart. WE LOVE THIS CART because it's quiet, doesn't smell, and goes like _____ !!

Been looking all summer for a golf cart. Read all your posts and visited many golf cart websites all over the net.
Have no pony in this discussion. Not trying to sell ya anything either. Just looking for a good (probably new) golf cart. So, here is what I come away with after all the reading and research.
I'll be buying a Yamaha "direct injection" golf cart. Very efficient, with no need for a choke, and I'll use high-test gas. The gas smell will be almost impossible to detect, I'll get better mileage due to the direct injection, and I won't have to deal with the batteries either...which seem to nick ya about $1,000 every few years.

That's what we got for all the reasons you stated and we love it. We got one of the package carts with a rear facing back seat and golf bag attachment.

Do NOT use High Test Gas that makes it run worse. High test in a cart designed for 87 smolders in the combustion chamber. Building carbon and poor combustion. Save the money for a nice dinner out.

Your Yamaha manual will confirm this.

Checked out the Par Car yesterday. . . go for my orientation Tuesday morning at 8AM and getting it delivered shortly after. Can't wait. It's got bells and whistles on top of bells and whistles. Christmas comes Tuesday for me! Love my new Par Car!

The reason that these so call recondition gas carts smell and smoke is that the engine is worn out when it was purchased by the dealer from golf courses. That's why they got rid of them.
