We have lived in the Villages for 7+ years and love it, except the heat during the summer months. Therefore, we are trying to find a "Villages like" community up North to spend our summers. We have a son in the Chicago area, which is why the Sun City Huntley community looks attractive.

We would like to rent a furnished home there for one or two months next summer in order to "check it out". However, the only things I have found after doing multiple searches online, are unfinished long term rentals or homes for sale.

Just wondering if anyone has first hand knowledge of that community as to if it has short term (a month or two) rentals.

not familiar with that area, however you may want to check out Airbnb or Vacation Rental By Owner...the acronym is being replaced with **** every time I type it...often times you can find a fully furnished home...some are for the month or longer

okay so you may not end up in the same house every year, but it's an option to consider

We've been pleased using both Airbnb and **** for vacation rentals

My old neighbor moved out there and hated it. Too far from Chicago for him. A lot of retired Chicago Police there.

They may not be allowed to rent furnished short term, some communities actually are forced to follow the rules. I belonged to a condo association that did not allow it and there were owners who would rent for a week and tell the tenants if asked just say that they were friends of the owners and they were letting them use it for a week.
