The attendants are paid from amenity fees. Amenity fees will only be adjusted down due to deflation.

If there is money saved by no longer having attendants it will be used for another purpose like paying down debt, building a reserve, or finding another use for the displaced employees. Perhaps some of the attendants could be stationed at problem-child pools for more frequent ID checks.

I agree. Just leave it as is. It's working.

Think about it. There’s about 150 village entries within The Villages. Every one of them has a cross path for Golf Carts. The gates act like a stop sign for the cars. They create breaks for the carts to safely cross.

Can you imagine how many Golf Cart/auto crashes per week there would be if the gates were removed and the cars flew through at 35MPH or faster? Please stop with the Gate removal nonsense. It will never happen.

I have lived in that area for 16 years and on several occasions have seen the line backed up to 466, even with the gate permanently open and the attendant waving everyone through - some people insist on slowing down regardless. I can only imagine how bad it would have been with no attendant and the gate going up and down for each vehicle.

However, as others have stated, that gate is exceptional and each gate really needs to be considered separately, rather than imposing a "one size fits all" solution on them all.

More than once, a gate attendent has risk my safety in a golf cart leaving a gate up at an entrance I can't see the car coming.

I would happily trade gate attendents for additional people to verify people using recreational facilities are residents.

I have sent emails to the District (might have been Customer Service, might have been Community Watch) mentioning this when it has happened. I don’t recall receiving a reply but the practice stopped, at least for a little while.

Gate attendants are very much needed. For instances if the gate arms malfunction in which the gate arm doesn’t raise traffic backs up very quickly. If this occurs gate attendants currently address this problem immediately. The gate entrance on Morris Boulevard off 466 is one of the busy gates in The Villages. Can you imagine a gate arm malfunction at that gate. You would probably looking at a 5 to 10 minute respond time to address the gate malfunction. With that response time traffic would back up to 466 quickly. Gate attendants are critical during the high traffic times of the day to keep traffic moving though these gates safely.

He thinks he's running the NYC Police Department and had more facts and figures than any human could stomach.

Want to know how many homes Community Watch can drive by per minute? He can tell you. Want to know how long it takes to call a homeowner, to tell them their garage door is open? He's got the statistics. It was mind boggling.

I left before I heard how much they spend for those clowns operating the gates & paddles at the gates ... I can only imagine!

Cutting all those guys loose is going to be an issue. It should have been done a long time ago. I'll be curious how this one shakes out.
SO HOW MUCH DO THEY SPEND ON COMMUNITY WATCH???? I walk every morning and usually see at least one or two

In DeLuna, we can get several cars turning in from 301 when the green arrow activates. During busy times, our attendants do a nice job sorting and slowing the cars as they approach and make their way through the two entrances. We appreciate their help.

OP here. Dam, lots of options regarding the subject. Whatever happens, here is hoping gate attendants aren’t ever reassigned to monitor the pools and pickleball courts to insure outsiders are not sneaking in. Once an employee gets really good at waiving through everyone as fast as they can, without showing a valid Villages ID, it most definitely wouldn’t be a good idea to have them monitor our amenities!

Different system, districts have paid personnel at rec center that’s supposed to be checking ID’s. Some rec centers do good job and some do nothing.

Just hold your card up against the window and pull close enough to the gate card sensor so that it reads your card and the gate opens. I do it all the time.

When going north on the cart trail along Morse...

The cart crossing at Bonita is terrible....cars come flying around the corner off Morse onto Bonita and sometimes it gets dicey crossing there....the gate is after the cart crossing. Can't imagine what would happen if gates were all removed!
