Default Dropped gate pass

I should add that I had just made a round trip to Mayo Clinic and was tired and not prepared for someone who needed attention at my expense. Please no lecturers on responsibilities. I really don't

I believe that gate guard needs a lesson in kindness and reprimand for rudeness. It would be difficult to open your door wide enough to reach down to ground and retrieve pass. If there were cars behind you, you couldnt even back up to get out and retrieve passcard. Long drive to Mayo probably added to your angst that day. Please attach a cord or lanyard to your pass-card to avoid a recurrence

I had a similar but opposite experience when I dropped my card under my seat and could reach it. I was too far away to reach the button so I started to open my door to be able to reach. The gate person yelled at me harshly saying I wasn’t allowed to get out of my car to reach it. After explaining that I’d dropped it they yelled again and finally opened it for me. I’m guessing we aren’t the only ones who have done that and surely some gate people are nice and understanding.

You said that other cars were pouring through the non resident gate. You wanted him to risk his life to cross that lane of traffic, so he could push your red button? Sorry, you are weong.

Most of the gate attendants I have known over the years have been cheerful and courteous. Normally, they greet me with something like a "have a good day" or "good evening" etc. Some even preempt my using the card and open the gate before I can wave my card. I have even had one or two suggest that I use the guest entrance when it's raining. It's rare in the years that I have been here that I have had a grumpy gate keeper. One instance does not make the norm.

Of course, the attendant controls the non-resident gate. Cars were "pouring through" only because he allowed that to happen.

Plus, and more importantly, the attendant can open the resident gate from where he stands, there is no reason for him to go and press the red button. I was pleasantly surprised a couple of times, during heavy rain, when the gate arm raised while I was approaching the card reader.

I suspect many residents use the visitor lane, which eliminates holding up a card and opening windows.

Exclamation Northbound Morse Gate at 466

I have never seen a gate operator turn around to check out how many golf carts are lined up trying to cross over to the MMP. Frankly, if they don’t do that one simple task, why do they even need to be there?
Yes, this has been a safety hazard for many years. At busy times southbound golf carts are forced to take risks to get across. A policy of only letting one visitor through to every two residents would create gaps but a simple look and see would also solve the problem. Yes, it would occasionally cause a slight backup but nothing is perfect when there are two lanes merging into one.

I second that. Had one installed. Works great. Just need to get as close to card reader as usual. Just no arm reach out of window

Read it again. The gate attendant refused nothing.

Can this be done with any type of car mirror? Sounds like a great idea

I was told that if you have a chrome mirror, it may/may not work.

Stay home, take some really deep breadth to relieve the stress. That is so sad someone would do that especially this time of year. He is a very angry human being. God bless & take care of you

What did they tell you when you called to ask someone in an area of responsibility for the gate employees - you may not want to rely on what you get from other Villagers - just saying.
