I can say, the new reader devices (most READER DEVICES have NOT (yet?) been replaced, only the database software) are much much more sensitive than existing old ones which may eventually lead to a "legit" card or sticker affixed somewhere to your car.

All that being said, why even bother with gate cards. Automatic gates in both directions would do the identical job. Cameras can still read the plates. I wonder how many times a card code has been used for anything when a license plate is more accurate.

You can tell the new READERS (hardware) because they aren't all beat up and faded from the sun. One new READER (hardware) you can test is at the southern O'DELL circle entry gate off Morse closest to 466A. The gate at O'Dell Mallory is still old. The new one reads my mirror card from like 2-3 feet away where the older ones need you to get very much closer (like max about 1 foot.
The gates are useless. May every gate arm break and never be fixed. I don't like them.

Not so easy for a 5'2" (and a half, that half is important I was told) woman. My girl has lots of trouble.

Do you have a link to the survey results, showing that most view the gates as unnecessary? I am interested to read how the questions were written. I assume you did not just make that info up.

Thanks!

The gate card signal will go through a car window. When the rain is pelting my car I always just hold my card close to my side window and parallel to the sensor light on the gate box and the gate always goes up.

That technique does not work on all vehicles and all gates.

I am speculating that you're mirror chip might be defective, and you should get it replaced. Once in a while, a reader doesn't work, but 95% of the time they seem to all work on all the readers for most people with mirror chips.

Apparently you are clueless as to why we have gates. Think about it for a while and the next time you are sitting at a gate just look around you!

Oh, hush! Facts like that will drive the conspiracy theorists crazy (well, crazier than they already are...)

Just because you don't like them does not make them "useless"...

They do provide a valuable service...

And that never worked in my wife's car, which is why we purchased the mirror chip...
