Default Gates-some staffed some not

Wondering why we have some gates staffed and others not?
Some of the unmanned gates are just as busy or more so
that gates that are staffed. Would like to know what the
purpose of the gate guards are. Do we need any of them
manned?

I have not seen every single gate in The Villages, but my observation is that the manned ones seem to have two lanes which merge into one after passing through.

Could the guards be used to give an appearance of security or control?

I don't think that is true. The Pinellas Place gate off Buena Vista is unmanned and goes to one lane. The Pinellas Place (Sanibel) gate off Morse goes down to one lane and it is manned. Pinellas Place is a busy street.

It’s a toss of the coin or the developer’s ingenious plan.

I honestly think one reason could be to help guide those who are lost. I know at most of the manned gates, if you pull up to them and ask for a specific street, they have little pieces of paper telling you how to get there. Not sure if that is only in the newer section or also the older sections. I can see that as being helpful ...

I believe it is based on activity. for example the Del Mar gate created some horrendous backups because is at a four corner so they added an attendant this year. a gate on a major thoroughfare get more outside traffic and hence may require a gate keeper Buena vista, Morse, etc

Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't.
