I've been here 2 years and know of no one injured by either creature.

Most people (with any sense) avoid them. Can't imagine the golfer mentioned in a previous post dragging a gator by the tail anywhere. But then there was the guy head-butted by a buffalo while trying to feed them (completely ignoring the signs saying "do not feed buffalo"). When it comes to anything wild, I avoid it, especially snakes and alligators!!!

We have snakes and even an occasional alligator at our golf course here in Montgomery. The course is next to a river and gets an occasional gator when the river floods. One day I killed a small 8-inch snake on a tee box with a 6-iron and ignored the 4-footer that was on the back of the tee box.

When we get to TV, the rule will be CAUTION, especially in Spring when snakes come out to sun. Will educate myself on the habits and times that gators are active.

I don't know of any - just of one doggy. Of course, it would be unlikely to make it into the paper...

I agree that being prudent the bonds and near rocks makes sense... also being careful of the fire ant colonies - those little buggers attack first and think about it later. There are other good threads on being prepared if you are bitten.

The guy who dragged the gator by the tail was not a golfer. He was part of a crew who apparently was called out to remove the gator which was hanging around the Redfish rec center outdoor game area. I believe this was the same gator that was later shot for continuing to wander around in places he didn't belong. Don't try this at home. Call a professional.

and then saw why, the gator sat down between the cart path and the first tee he looked around for awhile and then, not seeing his date, he returned to the water. BTW he looks light because his back was covered with algae etc. which stuck to his back when he waded thru it coming out of the pond. We all naturally let him play thru
