Genesis at Brownwood, and MVP before Genesis acquired it, accepts AARP/UHC Supplemental Plan (at least Plan F, G, and N) RenewActive benefits for zero cost per month. How do I know? I have been participating for years. It is possible that Genesis is not considered a "premium gym" but the OP was specifically asking about Genesis. For me, a "premium gym" would have a pool, which Genesis Brownwood does not have.

OP, I would suggest that you visit the Genesis gym and get first hand information about exactly what they do accept before enrolling in any Medicare supplement plan.

Thanks to all the replies. I’m pretty sure I’ll be moving to UHC plan G and the use of Genesis would be a bonus for me. Sounds like there are several folks here using Genesis regularly with the same plan so thank you!

I dont know what renew-active means though if someone can help me out.
Renew Active is the name of the gym membership benefit from AARP/UHC Medicare plans. Silver Sneakers is a similar, but different program that other insurance companies use.

Genesis is listed as a "premium location" on the UHC Renew Active website, and it says that premium gyms may not be included on all health plans. Click on this link.

ERROR: The request could not be satisfied

The OP was specifically asking about Genesis Brownwood and AARP/UHC Supplemental Plan G. The answer is yes, it is included, as myself and several others have already indicated based on personal experiences.

According to Steven at the Genesis Brownwood, they do not have any partnership or benefits for the AARP/UHC supplement Plan G. They only offer benefits to members of the UHC "advantage" plans. This is the information I received from 2 people at Genesis in Brownwood. That is why I recommended that the OP visit Genesis to get the information first hand and that it is current information.

I don't know how to make this any clearer. My wife and I, and several others who have posted on this thread, have AARP/UHC Supplemental Plans and have zero cost memberships to Genesis Brownwood via the RenewActive benefit.

I had a UHC plan that had Renew Active and yes, I was able to use Genesis. Now I have a new plan that has Silver Sneakers and Genesis told me they only take Florida Blue for silver sneakers. My plan is Humana so I can no longer use Genesis.

I see they have a gym membership benefit in this plan, Renew Active. The UHC website has a number of gyms in the area, including both Genesis Health clubs. But the Genesis clubs are listed as a “premium” location, with the note that not all medigap plans include premium gyms.

Does anyone here have a UHC medigap plan G and knows whether the Genesis gyms are included? If so, are their limitations because its considered premium? Does Genesis Brownwood get too crowded during the busy season? Thanks!

The gym is ALWAYS busy...regardless of snowbird season! I tried mornings and it is too much! Thins out around lunch time and then picks back up in the afternoon.

I think the crowd would be much less if folks treated it as a gym instead of a social club. Lots of folks talking for 5-10 minutes between sets or watching tv on the treadmill at a pace thats slower than walking.

I'm actually paying full price for membership, so its frustrating that a 30 minute workout using weights sometimes takes an hour just waiting for my machines/free weights to open up.

You have been pretty clear, but there are several online discussions about AARP/UHC health plans dropping their Renew Active benefits for the premium gym locations in 2025. Here is just one Youtube video that discusses this topic. Genesis reps have told me that they no longer offer free memberships for the AARP/UHC supplement plans.

In fairness, you may be grandfathered in following a policy change.
Direct ask to the place in question is always a good idea.

@retiredguy123 What is your response if Steve is wrong? Please answer my question first before delving into the Steve's knowledge.

Not sure I understand your question. I can't guarantee that Steve is correct. But he is the representative that I spoke with at Genesis. That is why I quoted him. Also, there are several online blogs that say the UHC Renew Active benefits are being reduced in 2025, which is consistent with what Steve told me.

This is clearly not correct as my membership at Genesis has zero cost.
