Re: Golf Cart Access to new stores?
There is a movement in Lady Lake to gain access legally. You need to read Sunday's Daily Sun article. My above posting only touches a small section of the article. I should have started a new topic so as not to confuse the issue. Sorry.

Don't know why this thread was started in TOTV News (and another one about senior moments misplaced there too) but there are 12 posts and a couple hundred views. The topic was hashed and rehashed. I, of course, had a terribly insightful comment about the situation. Other people said stuff too.

Re: Golf Cart Access to new stores?
I don't think I'd care about access from golf carts from Lady Lake. How many people are really going to purchase a cart when they can just drive in now with their car? And if they do what would be the impact? As long as TV restricts access to member only places such as pools, rec centers, courts, etc. (I know they don't do much checking currently) then the TV residents would be fine. Maybe the influx of permenant residents who live in Lady Lake might help the summer economy in TV which, as we have read, suffers sometimes with all the TV snowflakes.

Re: Golf Cart Access to new stores?
The article cited by Happy Villager confused me some. I had been under the impression that Villagers were hoping to gain access to the new shopping center anchored by Bed, Bath & Beyond, via some access across Rolling Acres Road from Rolling Acres Plaza.
But the story talks about folks in Water Oaks agitating for access, too. Thing of it is, they'd have to get across U.S.Highway 27/441 and/or County Road 25, which I'm sure the state would disapprove, not just Rolling Acres Road. And, I can't really understand the concern over "outsiders" gaining access to TV. They do so in large number by automobile, now! And, those who don't live in age-restricted, golf cart communities, aren't likely to have the golf cart means to come into TV, anyway! Perhaps I don't see the point????? :dontknow: SWR

It did remind me of the old slippery slop argument I heard so often in law school that if you grant this one golf cart bridge or whatever other kind of access that could work, then other communities will also want to get their connections to the Villages. Pretty soon then other retirement communities will have golf cart access to TV.... |
