WOW...who knew??? I have never seen anything like that.

It is legal to enter a roundabout and proceed to the second exit (to go straight). While traveling in this manner in the roundabout, I will be in the right lane not exiting until I get to my second exit. Are folks who follow the law by traveling in the right lane and not exiting until their second exit, ignorant??? Just wondering.

As I have said previously in these threads about navigating the roundabouts, I was going to give it a go by entering the roundabouts in the left lane to go to the third exit. Every time I have done that, I've had to quickly get to the right lane as soon as I exited the roundabout in order to be in the proper lane to enter a village to go through the resident gate or get in the proper lane for the bypass of a roundabout. Bummer!!!

Proper timing and awareness will solve these problems

Default We're going 'round in circles

All around the round-about
The gas car chased the diesel;
One turned left and one went straight,
Pop! Goes the diesel.

No Coffeebean you are not ignorant. After me and some others on this
thread have pounded you for your stand on going all the way around
the roundabouts in the right lane you seem to have seen the light and
even though it makes you nervous are attempting to do it right.

Right lane can make the first or second exit after entering the roundabout.
If everyone does this when you are in the left lane going to the third exit
nobody should be next to you when you exit.

You know how you felt about the left lane so don't assume everyone
will do it right. CAUTION !!!!!!!

Have you seen the size of the big trucks Ed? The present roundabouts in total are almost too small for some of them. The walls would never work and I think would cause accidents. I said it was a good thought, but just, in my humble opinion, not workable. Why don't you submit your idea to the DOT and maybe if I'm wrong and your idea is revolutionary it can be as common as the "Jersey" guard rail.

This will only work if everyone yields to any car in the roundabout whether the car is in the left (inside) or the right (outside) lane. The rule of not overtaking any car in the roundabout is also the key.

The idea of a truck apron is not new. Here's an overhead of one. http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/safety/roundabouts/

If you couldn't exit a big rig from this left lane with an apron like this, you shouldn't be driving it. And yes, Jersey rails to keep right lane drivers in their lane would work but we'll never see them in this little paradise.

This was a very helpful link. There is You Tube video demonstrating how to drive in a roundabout. We have read the flyer but seeing it in action is more helpful!

I have in the past contacted the villages main office to suggest that every buyer, renter, and guest take a 10 minute class on how to drive in roundabouts and on golf carts paths with golf carts. To be handed the pamphlet to read. They must sign acknowledging receiving a class prior to picking up the resident or guest ID.

What bothers me the most is not that the drivers take the wrong lane/s its the attitude you get from them when you have to make a sudden stop.
They look at you and in most cases act like its your fault.

One day my foots not going to make it off the gas fast enough to brake in time.

Then lets see if they have attitude then?
