I have deliberately stayed away from this thread for quite some time. I figured there was no sense in discussing the legality of breaking the law and exceeding the legal speed limit in a golf cart. If a guy doesn't care whether or not he gets a ticket - they have hospitals for people like that. They also have jails for people like that. Go man, go. If you don't think insurance is necessary - don't hit me because you will wish you had insurance, lots of it too. Yes, people die in golf carts. And, they may not have been exceeding the legal speed limit either. Why take the chance? I don't think that is too hard a decision to make for the person of average intelligence. For those of you that disagree, get a low speed vehicle. That will get you out into the main roads and off the roads which we law abiding citizens want to travel in our legal golf carts. If you drive down my street, pass me with lots of speed, I look at your rear end to see if there is a Florida plate there. If there is, God speed. If there is not a Florida plate there, you are a damned fool and are speeding, breaking the laws as set down to try to protect your sorry bum. Now, have a blast coming up with reasons that you feel you really need to exempt you from traffic laws. I won't try to change your mind anymore. As far as I am concerned, you help pay the expenses of our law enforcement agencies and court systems and that is a good thing.

Perhaps you should have listened to yourself and stayed away from this issue period. I find this speed issue silly. People will go and drive the way they want no matter what you say.

Please understand I don't approve excess speeding but I disapprove people making statements of "they have hospitals for people like that." Or people who make silly idle threats.

Please don't try to tell us that during your whole life you never went over the speed limit and that you never got a ticket thats BS.

Maybe what you should do is post your address for all to see so they can either choose to drive by your house speeding or avoid the area and stay away so you don't get so bent. I would definitely be one to avoid it because I would be going by with lots of speed as you mentioned.

First note that I am not specifically bashing you here but it seems you should
just drive your vehicle and stop worrying so much about the speeders. They will pay for mistakes they make, and if you try to avoid them will make life allot more enjoyable. It will also keep you safe.

No matter what you say people in general do go over the speed limit on occasion, sometimes without realizing it. I am one of them because I watch the road and people all around me whether in a car or cart. Thats because my eyes are on the road not the speedometer or all the sites and views around me.

As for insurance in my opinion everyone in the villages who drives on any street other than the designated cart paths and the golf courses should be required to have insurance liability period. Those who don't are extremely foolish.

Cliff this thread was dead for 6 days until you brought it up again...BAD DECISION on your part. It was going to die as people were "moving on" to something bigger and better. The original purpose of the thread was not to avocate breaking any laws regarding Golf cart speed. However as it developed, I as well as probably many others learned alot about local golf cart dealers, how a golf cart operates, how speed can be altered, and the florida statues that pertain to golf carts and for that I say thank you to all the contributing board participants.

This is a Discussion Board and people voice their opinions. You believe them or not, take them or leave'em, but you should not take anything so personal that it is obviously raising your boold pressure!! If you are taking these chats so serious you may want to stay away not only from this thread but most others. These boards are not only a source of information for many, it is a form of entertainment and socialization for many others. Threats of suing someone if they hit you or implicit comments about a hospital or jail stay were really uncalled for....besides its Xmas Eve....Merry Christmas !!!
