Default Golf Cart Headlights

This may have already been discussed but I could find no entries on it. Has anyone noticed the differences in the brightness of some golf cart headlights versus the others? I realize there are different types with the EZ-Go model having just the one long light and most others lights similar to those on cars or trucks but some carts lights seem extremely bright. Met one up by the Savannah Center last night that totally blinded me. I ran completely off the cart path. No damage but not a good feeling.

Do not follow where the path may lead.
Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.

Many of the new carts, and some of the older retrofits, are using halogen lights. These are much brighter and give the operator a longer range of view. However, just like with automobile hologen headlights, they have to be properly adjusted so they shine on the surface and NOT in the eyes of oncoming traffic. Unfortunately, this is not always done.

Sorry about your bad experience. I can relate to it.

We rented a house in TV from a private party and it included a golf cart with two headlights. They were tilted up and we couldn't see a thing at night on the path in front of us but I'm sure they blinded anyone coming our way. So the headlight position has a lot to do with it.

For those who like the idea of a little extra light on the cart at night without doing it at the expense of oncoming cart drivers, we had added a pair of lights to the bottom of the cart. These lights shine on the ground in front of the car and augment the regular headlights, again without affecting drivers in oncoming carts. Yes, those new halogen lights can be killers if not correctly aligned.

Default golf cart headlights

The problem with the real bright lights are that the lights are hooked up to 16 volts rather than 12 volts, Some of the people who rebuild carts save money rather than buying a voltage reducer they hook the lights up to 2-- 8 volt batteries and thus you get real bright lights and less bulb life also, that's most of the cause of the bright lights on golf carts. This affects the brake lights and turn signals also.
