Hey folks….getting our first golf cart in a couple of weeks, and looking for suggestions regarding insuring it. Thanks in advance.

Progressive insured both of my carts for a total of $151 a year.

As litigious as society is today we felt it was a good idea to insure ours.

About $125/cart for full coverage.

Should be about $125 to add it to your homeowner's policy.

Check with your insurance company. Adding the cart to my homeowner's policy would have been less expensive but would only cover theft, not liability. To get liability coverage it had to be a separate policy covering a vehicle.

Allstate provides our golf cart insurance, I believe it's around $180 this year. It covers two golf carts for liability. We get discounts because we have our car insurance through them as well.

$180 is a terrible deal for liability only. It's not even a good deal for full coverage.

I was NEVER able in 50 years to get reasonable insurance rate from Allstate. You may be in good hands but you wallet a LOT thinner.

Agreed but they did say two carts not one.

Been with Progressive for 4 years, with their loyalty rewards program my insurance this year is $111 for 2 golf carts. Includes liability, uninsured motorist, medical payments, comprehensive and collision. The additional premium for roadside assistance for each cart would be $10 each.

Been with Progressive for six years and my package works out to be $111 for each cart after discounts. Relatively new carts, relatively high coverage limits so maybe that's the difference but I suspect I'll be shopping my business around in the near future.

IMO, Allstate is not a company I would recommend. My wife was in an auto accident with an uninsured driver. He turned left coming from the opposite direction right in front of her when the light turned green. Fortunately for her there was a police officer directly behind my wife and documented the accident attributing 100% fault to the uninsured driver. She was diagnosed with a herniated disc by three physicians yet Allstate continued to deny the claim. Finally, after 4 years, it went to arbitration and she won. We were never in good hands with Allstate as we only got one finger.

Posting how much you are paying for liability insurance is meaningless without stating the liability limit. Allstate and State Farm are the only two companies I have found that will sell you up to $1 million in liability coverage. Currently, I have State Farm for homeowner's and auto insurance, and they include $1 million in liability coverage. If you only have $100K in liability, you don't have enough.
