Default Golf Cart Awareness

[QUOTE=salgent;1516014]I am starting a Golf Cart Awareness program. I don't know if it will help perhaps will slow down carts.

YES, YES. Something needs to be done,it is really a shame, Kamikaze Clubs at the Happy Hours. Yes so what can be done? Do we need to wait for a major accident?
I am willing to help and we need some drastic steps to take a stand on this. It would be so nice to be able to have a safe bike ride, a sensible routine that is not mixed with terror?

We ride bikes on the Multi Modal Suicide paths. It is really something to get into and we have found the management does not care, just spend your money folks and all will be well.

How true,
I've been living in TV for.less than 3 months and I've witnessed many instances where cars will make a right turn directly in front of a golf cart that is traveling in the same direction. I've observed many near misses die to drivers who fail to yield the right of way and act as if the golf cart is required to stop so the car c an make a right turn in front of the golf cart.

I think the Villages should include a DVD that goes thru golf cart safety in the closing paperwork. It's amazing how many people do not know the rules or courtesies.

The only thing that will end this, is to end anonymity, which goes with all golf carts- the time for some kind of ID/per cart is long overdue--the hit and run of a bicyclists a few years ago and the recent pictures of gates being destroyed should be reason enough

I wouldn't expect the sheriff to send out a squad car, every time a citizen calls to report a speeding cart #30069.
Our cars have a tag...does that stop speeders?

Of course golf carts have speedometers. At least all I have seen.

More bureaucracy always comes at a cost and I am a fiscal conservative.

Default I think I know you.

I don't think any program is going to make people who drink and drive stop. I do think the online news showing pictures of people who are arrested for driving under the influence does help. I don't think any program that addresses speeding will slow down the speeders. Most scofflaws never think it is them and only responsible, ethical, law abiding people will take notice and join such a group. After lives filled with meetings, most people are not interested in meetings.

At the condo we lived in all bicycles had to have ID's--does anyone actually think paying $5-$10 for a live time decal or tag for a golf cart would be cost prohibitive

This way it would be able to recover the cost of damages to the gates--it would probably save all of us some $$ in the long run via reduced amenity fees

That wouldn't work for carts. People would have to have it revalidated when they sold the cart. Someone has to be a record keeper. Some say we have close to 100,000 golf carts here.

Has been posted before. At the Savanna center once a moth there is an opportunity to ask any gold cart driving questions you might have.

As to attending that or taking a course, only safe mided people would attend.

YOU/WE see the same people posting and believing rules do not apply to them. As stated in the original post the person criticized did not have insurance. Probably a safe be that he/she it drive a golf cart on which they have boosted the speed.

If, I recall from some psychology course between by age two a child comprehends there are other people. SADLY far too many people went right to 60-99 without ever learnign the world does not revolve around them.

You won't get much interest on this board because nobody here ever speeds or drives carelessly.
I only speed when I'm drunk or riding around throwing dog poop on yards.
We only tend to notice the rude self absorbed around us.
NOT ALL THE GOOD DECENT PEOPLE.

First of all you can have a speedometer installed in your golf cart. Most of the golf carts you see in tghe villages do not have license plates on then. You do not even need to have a valid drivers license to drive one. BUT, the maximum spped it is allowed to BE SET to go is TWENTY MILES PER HOUS.
My golf cart is set to go 20mph. Thus, if I am passed by a golf cart and it does not have plates on it THEY ARE BREAKING THE LAW-IT IS THAT SIMPLE.
