Default Maytag French door refrigerator-a NO-NO

Purchased a Maytag french door refrigerator with ice/water front door mount. Two years old, just after the warranty expired, it developed a leak in front of the unit (on both sides). After further research I discovered that this is very common to this Maytag design. There were pages and pages commenting about this particular situation. Many consumers contacted Maytag and were ignored. I was one such consumer. My advise is to choose another brand. The Maytag serviceman isn't like years ago when he was bored having nothing to do! Oh, I did get my unit serviced and there is a specific repair kit that is available. This should tell everyone that there is a problem. Eventually, hopefully, there will be a recall on this refrigerator.

Our one - yes one - yr old Samsung French door blew it's compressor... after 3- yes 3- repairmen looked at it, 2 of them recommended not to buy any Samsung product.. I think it is a game of chance with any appliance. By the way, after numerous phone calls and help from Home Depot, I rec'vd a new fridge free of charge.. Home Depot Customer Service was wonderful.. Samsung was horrid..

The Maytag Man is now a Whirlpool Corporation employee.
