Default Any Village Rules About Washing Your Cars

I am new to The Villages and wonder if it's "OK" to wash one's car in their own driveway. I ask this because I know in Florida, water usage is a concern. Owning a classic car, I am not about to take it to a Car Wash. Come to think of it, are there any truly touchless car washes near The Villages? If so, where? By touchless, I mean a place where you drive into a stall and the machine goes around the car with several cycles and then blow dries the car.

There is no restriction I am aware of on washing your car in your driveway at this time. There may be if we have water restrictions as we've had in the past. It would be wise to have a shutoff on the hose so it doesn't run continuously when you're not actually using it on the car.

Sam's Club has a touchless wash bay, but it seems to be out of service much more than the other side with the twirling pads. I use the touchless side on both my cars as advised by the detailer.

Thanks, Mike. My 67 gets washed maybe 2-3 times a year and I didn't want to tick any one off by doing so, if it was discouraged.

I am going to try and wash mine on the front lawn, kills 2 birds with one stone. BTW, I use minimal soap, so it will not harm the grass.

Washing on the grass is highly recommended and here's a little hint------
use a marine grade boat soap, won't harm the environment and doesn't dry as quickly in the sun.

It really is sad, this thread questions if it is OK to use a few gallons of water to wash your car when the Southwest Florida Water Management District is looking at a company that wants to pump 500,000+gallons per day from the aquifer.
It most likely will be a done deal. Then when the first drought hits that same group will tell us to water our lawns only once per week.
Its a good deal for the water bottlers, they get free water to sell all over the country.
Here is a thread with more information. Proposed water pumping from local springs

That is beautiful. There was someone looking to open a new business near TV several weeks ago. Here it is a brushless car wash that removes bugs properly instead of just moving the bugs around on the car. I like the idea of washing the car on the lawn Bravo but I'm surprised it is acceptable. We wash our driveways and sidewalks in NJ with soap a broom and a hose and then pridefully survey our work...sounds like that's over but that's fine.

I rarely wash my car, I use deluted mixture, with damp towel and lightly remove the dust. When I drive in the rain I immediately rinse road grime off while it's wet And towel off while wet along with between the doors, around inside of the trunk and Occasionally I will spray under carriage. Course my daily driver no classic with $10000 paint job.

Most, if not all, auto detailing locations offer hand washes. Is there an auto detail shop in TV?

spoiler alert: I don't feel like reading all the posts.

My neighbors get a kick out of my Smart Car Washing system. If it's not too cold out when it rains I park in the driveway. After the car is good and wet I put on my raincoat and with a bucket and soapy towel wash my car. The rain does the rinsing. I don't own a hose. I'm saving up for one unless you got one that you are throwing out.

I picked one of these up at a local yard sale a couple of years ago and I LOVE it - especially in these days of unending pollen! Washed the car 2 wks ago and it still looks as good with just a couple of dustings! No scratches!

Most detailers would have a nervous breakdown reading some of these post on washing cars,, espically the car duster and rinsing the car off after driving in the rain and drying it. OUCH

But no problem washing in your driveway,, best to wash your car early morning or late afternoon when sun is going down,,, not good to wash middle of the day and allow the car shamppoo to dry on your car. If you use a good shampoo for the car then it helps a bunch. This is what I use.

Meguiars Hyper-Wash is a concetrated car wash for frequent or professional detailing. Super foaming, long lasting car shampoo from Meguiars.

Really great stuff,,, Or use a foam cannon if you have a pressure washer.

Just a thought, but driveway is great.
