Good point. This has led to accidents from other threads I have seen.

and why should the cart drivers do anything different than car drivers here?
turns are not signaled, stop signs are ignored, people do not STOP before making a right on red, people shoot out of side roads to be ahead of carts so they don't have to obey 20mph speed limits. On the road to colony, once you turn off morse it is 20 mph not 30 or 40 as most cars do on that road.

It's all been said before to no avail people seem to be too selfish to think of others safety!

The other day I'm driving my car on Stillwater and a guy comes out of a side street in his golf cart. Never slowed at all as he went through the stop sign and onto the cart path. Now, he knows he's not going onto the auto lane, but I don't, so I jam on the brakes and get the single finger salute. Idiot!!

So THAT was you in the car, eh? (just kiddin', mike)

A driving move like that on the part of the cart operator is ALWAYS scary!

Wink Driver Courtesy!

The Villages is pretty much a small city in itself...For all of us that have driven in cities of this size, you know there will always be folks that don't obey the rules of the road!!! So, We can just make sure that we do the right thing, don't get angry, don't let it ruin your day, just wave "no single finger salute!", and go about our merry way...!!! It's really not that big of a deal but it does require some give and take.!!! It's just another beautiful day in The Villages!!!! One thing I would suggest, however, would be a mandatory driver training course before being able to operate a golf cart..!!! Cya!!!

It works for us!
In Minnesota that's what is called Minnesota Nice and the reason they don't have four way stops.

Please, not another government "we know better" thing! Let the idiots do their thing and let Darwinism do its thing.

I agree, please no mandatory course to drive a golf cart. If you do not have it now you never will.Honestly, I have not had a problems with other drivers. Just expect the unexpected and you will be fine.Maybe a mandatory course for dog walkers would be nice.

Well said. This and "do onto others as you wish onto you" would probably solve or eliminate half the threads on TOTV General Discussion. We can't, nor is it necessary to bubble wrap ourselves all over and forever.
If everyone were perfect, with no faults, or short-comings, or errors, retirement living would really become boring.
