Oh yes they do!! Under the circumstances of a golf cart in the golf cart lane and a car on the road next to it wanting to turn RIGHT, the golf cart has the right of way to continue straight across the street that the car is wanting to turn into. Very simple. Car waits until right turn is safe and clear!

I agree with this. Crossing the white line on your right could get you a ticket.

If a car is behind a golf cart and passes it just to make a right turn into the upcoming street, He must be looking to get a golf ball through a windshield!
It is safer to just ease off the gas pedal for a bit, the cart passes the street, and now the CAR has a clear path to turn! Nobody likes to be cut off in traffic! |

Please read "Safety" at the link below: Golf carts should always yield to other vehicular traffic in all cases.

I have vowed to never drive the length of morse blvd ever again. It
puts death race 2000 to shame. Here's how i drive. Drive defensively ⁹⁹ power and you may make it. Right or wrong is inconsequential when the ambulance ?????? Shows up. |

You didn't quote a comment so not sure in which scenario you feel the car has to wait. Please elaborate. Thanks.

Who are you agreeing with? You didn't quote the poster you are agreeing with.

John W is correct. At least according to the police officer that came to a neighborhood meeting. It was his suggestion to safely move into the cart lane to turn right.

I took a golf cart safety course when I first moved here in 2001. When driving in a car, we were told to put the right front and back tires a little over the golf cart lane in order to make a right hand turn. This way the golf cart will see you and won't be able to try and pass you on the right as you are in the process of making your right turn. The officer said that if you don't do this, you risk the golf cart running into the side of your car. Golf carts merge into the car lanes to make a left turn and cars merge into the cart lanes to make a right turn.

A golf cart weighs some where in the neighborhood of 900 - 1,000 lbs, the average car is between 3,500 and 4,500 lbs. SUVs and pick-ups weigh even more. So in a collision between a car/SUV and a golf cart who do you think is going to get the worst of it? Even if the cart was in the right, is that any consolation to you when you are 6 feet under the grass or so mangled up that you will need a wheelchair the rest of your life? Are you going to challenge an MMA champion to a fight?
