This couldn't have been said any better. One thing I do is pull over for a half a minute to allow a cart close behind me to pass. Just a courtesy—and a safety one at that. I was once out with my grandson, age 16, showing him pointers of golf cart driving when someone chomping at the bit zoomed past us to make a left turn—and a case of some beverage in glass bottles went sliding off his cart and smashed into the curb. What a mess! My grandson and I had the 'courtesy' to wait till we were out of hearing range to laugh our heads off!

But some of us still have to work for a living. This isn't a retirement community. It's a 55+ community. And social security doesn't kick in til you're 62, minimum. Medicare takes even longer.
I'm sorry, you've lost me; yes, of course there are people in TV who still work, but what does this have to do with the subject? Surely you're not suggesting that people going to work have a special dispensation to speed rather than leaving enough time so they don't have to?

It's like speeding on the freeway.... do 85 mph long enough and you will pay the price. We might just need a few more cart speed traps!

Did you think the others are going 10-15? The rental carts are made to go slower.

The street legal golf carts could be faster in a lot of cases, so it may be a non-issue. Let people pass as it’s not worth road rage fights. We are retired so just take like easy going.

I haven't seen it mentioned, but Brownwood cart store will increase the governor so that your cart can travel at speeds up to 25 MPH. You just have to sign a waiver. They ask you if you want it done and then charge about $25 to do it. Doesn't affect the warranty. And also if you're in an accident or stopped for some infraction, they CANNOT tell how fast the cart was going.
And I think a lot of people are in a hurry to get things done while they're able to do so.
Just pull over and let them pass, just like you do in your car on a highway.

I read somewhere the coppers can use a new fangled device called ray-dar or something that shows how fast you are going. I read about it on the inter-rent or whatever it's called so it must be true.

Uh. Yea. I think maybe that was the suggestion.

Speeding in a golf cart is not the issue. The issue is driving an unregistered "Low Speed Vehicle." You can not drive a "golf cart" faster than 20 mph. If it goes faster than 20 mph on level ground, it is a Low Speed Vehicle, not a golf cart. Register the LSV and no problem.

You're partially right. To register a golf cart as a LSV, it has to be electric, not gas, and have all the modifications required. Plus you need proof of insurance before you can register it.

Nope. A LSV can be gas or electric.

Most everybody passes me because I drive a golf cart 15 MPH. When somebody goes to pass I slow down more so they can pass quicker. I'm retired and not in a hurry. IMO golf carts are not made to handle the speeds some people drive them.

Default Walkers in peril

I appreciate golf car drivers that slow down when passing walkers on the modals. There have been times that a golf car drove so fast and close to me as I walk that I had to jump out of the way.
