Default Restaurant seating like lawn watering

I don't have numbers but I'll bet the restaurants do. We tried to go out several times in the past two weeks and faced 45-60 min + waits even at 5pm. I said to the girl at Carabba's what time do you have to get here to get a seat and said, half jokingly, 3pm. It's reall y ridiculous. Makes one WANT to cook!

Suggestion, let's have eating out nights like the lawn watering....once a week and you can only go out on the numbered day that equals your last house number. I.E. house number ends in "2", you can go out to eat on Tuesday.

Another possibility would limit snowbirds to every other night. ;D ;D

Captian
Love the idea of designated eat out night. Maybe if we can go every other night (instead of once a week) we could live on the doggie bag and not cook the off nights. Or possibly only wife goes one night and the hubby the other night. I think onto something here.

The doggie bags are a good idea!

I wonder of these would have to be "special" colored doggie bags available only at Ace,Publix and the like? This could put a crimp in the plan as they would probably sell out very quickly. :beer2:

Back to railing against snowbirds again? Hmmm.... Snowbirds pay their taxes, amenity fees, maintenance, and so forth for a whole year and utilize the services for only a portion of the year. Just think: Snowbirds can (and do...) become full-time residents, meaning they'll be utilizing everything ALL year instead of for four or six or whatever number of months--and they they won't be snowbirds anymore! How's THAT for a solution?! '-)

If there were no seasonal residents, there would be no restaurants.Maybe you could have a law passed and they could paint an S on the"snowbirds foreheads" and then they could be sent to the back of the line until all of the FULL TIME residents were seated.

If it was not for the snowbirds coming here ,most of these restaurants would not even build here, they depend on these 4good months to carry them through the rest of the year.
I am not a snowbird.
As the girl at Carrabas said get there early and you will get a table.
Sounds like captain 1202 really hates snowbirds

not even there yet though I've visited, I think the snowbirds are the profit and it's something to be dealt with and know they pay the profits. Good thing I won't be in a hurry

Captain, perhaps snowbirds have to eat more often since they are used to hibernating for the winter. Maybe we could limit them to eating at the Golden Corral (all you can eat buffet).

I'm looking forward to havin that big S on my forehead. :hot:

I'm happy to read the posts in defence of snowbirds. Since I yam one.

However, in reality, Captain 1202 really likes snowbirds. He just likes to joke around!

Hey Captain.....if it wasn't for the snowbirds, The Villages would still be entirely located east of 441, everything west of 441 would still be watermelon patches, cattle grazing land, horse farms and.....you would still be trying to figure out where the best place in Florida to retire would be.

BTW, I am not a snowbird, I am a shorebird who has spent every summer of his life fishing, chilling, beach bumming and exploring the coastal regions between Manasquan Inlet and Cape Hatteras.

Your penance for insulting snowbirds will be stowing your Jimmy Buffett music and replacing it with gangster rap and hip hop including the complete collections of Snoop Doggy, Tupac Shakur and Bad Azz. Further, you will listen to them for 2 hours each day during dinner hour throughout the "snowbird season".

Just joking. 1rnfl

Any other penance suggestions?

Some of us are FROGS....we'll be here till we croak!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know for sure but the number of snow birds South of 466 is significantly lower than other areas of TV.

If our neighborhood is an indicator it in more like 60 (permanent)- 40 (snow birders).

I don't know too many businesses that are not able to sustain their needs with and without
snow birds....it's more like a good business year round....just busier when the snow birds are back.....

Ribbit! Ribbit!

BTK ;D

Guess we will be with Barefoot and have the "S" mark imprinted. > We are here from Oct. to May and pay the same price with taxes, fees, etc for the whole year and do not use anything for six months from May to Oct. We give you our space! The true Snowbirds are the ones that are filling up the hotels and the rental homes for one week or longer during Feb. and March. They I am sure eat out more and take up the seats om everything from the shows to the squares. Without them we would not have as many choices. They(visitors) do not know the bad from the good so everyone does well. We need everyone as who would buy the homes if they have not visited? Some day you might want to upgrade your home. I know that we ate out everyday and played golf a couple of times before we bought and did that at least three times. You just have to take it in stride and plan on a wait at the better places during the high season. In a few days it will be March!

Hey were not snowbirds anymore if you own and only spend a few months here in TV. We are now seasonal residents. As I have been told by many fulltime residents.

As for lines at restaurants this happens everywhere.
