Default GOLF DRESS CODE

Just spent 2 weeks at tv (visiting my own home) Golfed 3 times day and of course the afternoons were hot, My friend and I went to Sand Hill and she was told she needed to go home to change her shirt to a collared shirt. She has on a plain pale yellow shirt (crew neck) and short sleeves and was told it was a TEE SHIRT. Went home to change her shirt and when we got back another lady was sitting in a golf cart with her husband and the starter said nothing to her...she was wearing the same style shirt only in white, another couple pulled up again another plain white shirt, and they were allowed to golf with these shirts. My friend was upset. We dont mind rules but they should be the same for everyone, ..the starter;s name was Lee Zenkowski and to be perfectly honest..his problem was that he was not MAN ENOUGH to go over to another man and tell him "take your wife home to change her shirt"..but two women sitting in a golf car..no problem!
We asked to speak to his supervisor who was called, and got to the course while we were on hole #3..his theory was that the starter determined it to be a tee shirt and so be it..
We were so upset that we left "have a nice day in the Villages"....Another gentlemen told me same thing happened to his wife and she put on a jacket that was in their cart and it was 90 degrees.
Point is rules should be the same for everyone and although most of our starters and Ambassadors are really wonderful friendly and capable people..there is one bad apple in the bunch and his supervisor did nothing to remedy the situation...too bad...
So ladies. if you run into this guy it would be best to wear a collared shirt in case he determnes any other shirt to be a TEE SHIRT...

I am very used to those rules and they have been applied at all of the courses we have belonged too. I absolutely agree that they should be enforced to everyone. I am glad that we don't have to see men with beer bellys naked to the waist, which just might happen if we didn't have a dress code.

I am sorry about your situation and I can only imagine how frustrated and angry you felt. I hope it is an exception.

I know the golf courses are not consistent and I always wear a collared shirt - only for that reason. My friend wears a decorative "tee-shirt" with a golf design and she has never had a problem. It would be just my luck to wear one and run into trouble. I absolutely hate inconsistency - these starters need to be informed once and for all. Your situation is not uncommon.

Dont have problem with rules and when I attended the golf academy was told it wasnt necessary to wear collar shirt but that you could wear plain shirt with no writing or logo and you midrif should not be exposed and no tant tops etc, the prolem is it ways no tee shirts and that is the issue..what is a tee shirt? If you are wearing a plain (nice shirt) with no collar..why can this man determine it to be a TEE SHIRT...
And yes..he is the exception to the rule...Most of our starters are so nice..I've never met one like him before....Thanks for listening....

Never have I heard of women needing a collar!!! At El Santiago/El Diablo they have a picture showing what is OK and what is not. Mainly no showing middrift and no big Logos on the shirt. Oh and no string straps. Sorry you ran into a butthead. You need to report the person if the shirt was an acceptable one.

expose stomach and must have straps at least 2-inches wide.
• No T-shirts or tank tops.
• Shorts or skirts must cover the majority of the thigh.
• No overalls, tennis skirts, cut-offs or biking shorts.
• Denim pants are allowed.

Try this link - looks like the last part of the link didn't copy correctly, but this works:

For some reason you have to do a copy and paste the link into a browser to get the link to work. I have not figured out the problem yet.

Sorry you had that bad experience. I'm a lady golfer and I wear tops that don't have a collar and I guess could be construed as a Tee Shirt but no one has ever said anything. I see LOTS of them on the courses. I guess we need to know what the definition of a TEE SHIRT is??? Something to "tee off" with ... right???? ;D OK, you were dressed perfectly then!!! to Florida's Friendliest Hometown!!!

Really, its pretty difficult to define a tee shirt, since many shirts today are made of stretchy cotton.
