Default Free Home Repairs-Services

As a relatively new villager, I have met more than a few of my neighbors in need of minor repairs or help with their homes. Having seen charges of $75 -$100 for a simple replacement of a faucett washer. At the risk of being innondated with requests I am offering my labor free of charge to any villager North of 466, in need of FREE help with minor repairs around their home. If you are in need of repairs or replacements services such as a leaking faucett, toilette float valve, an electrical outlet or light switch, ceiling fan, sprinkler head replacement, or similar repairs please feel free to contact me for assistance.

That's all well and good until you start to help and find out that it's a bigger job than you thought. Having worked on my own old houses over the years I always find that it's not that simple all the time. Then you get into the "well, while you're at it you might as well ..." (very expensive words). I don't mind working on my own stuff, but when trying to help a friend and things go sideways you feel bad and maybe the friend feels that it was your fault even though it would have happened to anyone.

I agree with the above comment, and then there is always the possibility of liability. my ground rules going forward will be to help a person doing their own work on their own equipment and lend a hand or advice as necessary. One word of caution, I just finished doing some of my own electrical work that I had inspected and there are specific requirements on the person doing the work, unless it is the home owner doing the work on their own house.
Just my thoughts.
