Default Comcast alleged 2 yr contract

This thread is about our Comcast account in PA. We go north for 3 months in the summer. Each year, we open an account and return equipment and close the acct when we return to TV. They do not offer seasonal plan in PA because of the months we are away.

This year, for the first time, Comcast in PA is telling us we had a two year contract and we owe them about $250 in early termination fees. After hours on the phone when I finally got to talk to a real person, he told me he'd research it and find out whether we signed a contract. He said he'd call back with his findings "in a few days." That was almost 3 weeks ago. Nothing. I can't bear to get on the phone again. I was put on hold numerous times and repeatedly told how important my call was, then no one would come back on or they would just hang up. If I write a letter in response to one of their bills, I feel very confident no one will read it.

BTW, I have had no problems with Comcast here in TV. However, they can offer no help with the PA account. They're like completely separate companies.

Does any one have suggestions to what I can do? Is there a government agency that could help us? We have excellent credit and I don't want to jeopardize it, but unless they can show us a contract we signed, I refuse to pay this. It's like extortion.

Have you tried chatting with them online? That can sometimes be helpful. I can take some time. I had a client that I spent 2 hours on an online chat to get a cable bit straightened out. It can take a bit of patience.

Thanks, I have. I get canned scripted paragraphs from what sound like foreign staffers. No direct answers to anything related to this supposed contract. In fact, I don't think they know what the word means. It's extremely frustrating.

Then, after their non-answers, they ask if I'm satisfied.

I even get robocalls afterwards asking me to rate the service. I give the lowest rating possible. It says thank you and hangs up. They never follow up to find out why I'm unsatisfied.

I would assume you would know if you signed a contract. If not don't worry.
I just switched to Time Warner which will be Comcast and no signed contract

I have used the online with great success. I also just visited my local comcast store and they were very helpful. I always try to avoid the phone support because of the scripted responses andmthe heavy accents. Seeing a show on 60 minutes about the overseas phone centers some years ago was shocking at how bad they were as to being helpful.

Default Yay. We won!!

Still no response from Comcast. I gave it one more try....they finally said the contract dispute had been resolved. They just didn't bother to call and tell us. So...persistence saved us over $200! They sure are difficult to deal with but we won!
