Default heat/ac

We are not at our home during the early winter months. A/C was set when we left in fall. Do we need to change to a heat setting for Dec-Jan?

most of the homes I've seen have an automatic thermostat that you can set to switch to heat when it's below a certain temp and to a/c when it's above a certain temp. They are not terribly expensive, even to have installed, if you don't have one, but probably any home that is newer than 7/8 years already has one. Are you sure you don't already have it?

I'd say leave as is. Nothing is going to freeze inside.

Believe it or not, homes built within the past couple of years DO NOT have one of those auto switching thermostats. One has to manually choose between heat and AC. I had one of those auto switching thermostats installed this year for $250 and it works just fine.
