I converted an old Yamaha G16 of 1999 vintage with a kit from Buggies Unlimited which included the rear suspension upgrade (around $800) - the golf clube carrier fits into a regular square hitch reciever which can also be used for a small trailer & you can remove the golf club carrier and flip the seat and it turns into a mini-pickup - handy for bags of stuff from Lowes etc. When carrying 4 people I keep the golf club carrier in place and that provides something to hold onto and also stops people falling off - I still have the cart all these years later and she runs and functions just fine !!

I have observed the conversion to a four seater more than once by simply having lap sitting considered additional seating? It’s also not uncommon to see three people jammed into a two seater. We reserve that option for our dog : )

Golf cart conversions sound like a good thing. I need a conversion that has 2 wide lawnmowers in front so that I can cut my grass in comfort with my A/C on.

Correct! Just did one and you do need to beef up rear suspension on most traditional golf carts.

I was told, by Street Rods, that the carts sold by The Villages are rated for 400lbs. Would just adding beefier springs be enough for 2 more people to make it a proper 4 seater? I would think not. I would think the frame would need to be beefier to support more weight.

I hate to be a downer but once you have witnessed a rear-end collision with passengers sitting in that rear seat trust me you would change your mind in a heartbeat. I had an Electric EZ-GO and removed the seat the day after I saw that accident several years back. No one was seriously hurt but it was ugly.

Rent a cart from J & J Golf Cart instead 352-259-9701. The carts are reasonable and beautiful. Good luck which ever way you go.

I'm having Villages Discount Golf Cars add a back seat to my Yamaha. They will match my current upholstery. The seats fold up. They will replace the springs with more heavy duty ones. I'm also having seat belts installed. I had guests this winter and there were no golf carts available to reserve to rent. I contacted 8 different places.

Villages Golf Cars converted our newer2 seater. We are very happy with the results. The ride is still good and with seat belts installed, and we ask our guests to wear them, we aren't worried about anyone falling out. There is a platform for riders to put their feet on.

The Village's Golf Car shop will do the conversion. Not sure of the current price, but they do a nice job.
