Congratulations! I hope everything goes smoothly. You should be in TV before the soon starts flying.

Because our offer is contingent on the sale of our home, another buyer could come along with cash in hand and buy the house out from under us. I must keep the location confidential until we close.

After we close I'll "spill the beans" and anyone who sends me a PM will be given the address and invited to please stop by to say hello.

Smile Home inspection

OK, the next phase of our adventure is the home inspection and WBO (wood boring organisms) inspection on Oct 19th.

I noted cracked concrete on the front door stoop on both the left and the right side. Is this something I should be concerned about? Do any of you have cracks in the same place?

Are there any other pre-purchase inspections we should have?

When we get closer to closing how soon before we close should I contact utilities?

OK you Villagers...walk me through this please...

Default Sit Rep

Well, we close two weeks from tomorrow. All is done on this end save for the results of the appraisal, some mods requested by the Buyer, some more packing, selling, and donating of possessions, and the moving van. Reservations have been made to transport the car to Orlando, and we have our airline tickets.

Meanwhile, in mild mannered TV, the home inspection is done, small repairs are underway, all insurances are in place effective upon closing, only thing left is to sign the papers and wire the money after we close up here in Maine.

We are exhausted, happy, a tad sad, and "wicked" excited all at the same time. What a roller coaster ride this has been, and still is I guess. I'm feeling every one of my 61 years !

We fly into Orlando on Nov 15th and become Villagers

Gives me goosebumps! Thanks for sharing. Hope we meet you and the lovely Diane real soon.

Of course, the first thing you need to do after the closing up north is to post, "We Closed!" Then you can go celebrate.

Hi Bill,

We are having the proceeds from the sale wired to our bank at the Maine closing, and the settlement amount wired to the title company in Florida...all in the same day we hope. We will have signed the papers and returned them by FedEx overnight about a week before closing.

I agree...do so immediately after the closing when you have your check in hand!
