Google : Do moles carry diseases? Result: not smart to touch them and maybe pool needed an extra cleaning? 2020 strikes again. How dare a mole without Village ID die in the pool! The recreation attendant may have had an eggnog hang over. Most are very helpful and put up with an abundance of abuse. May 2021 soften and improve the attitudes encountered here.

I would not suggest touching it yourself. The rec center staff should have called someone to take care of it.

We don't have pool attendants. We have recreation assistants who fill in for each other during holidays, etc. The "attendant" may have been filling in and simply may not have known the answers. That does not mean that he did not take action after he returned to his post.

How about giving a someone the benefit of the doubt rather than anger? After all, it was Christmas weekend.

We've owned a pool in NJ for 30 years. Inevitably moles, baby rabbits etc would wander in for a drink and find themselves drowned. They eventually end up in the skimmers where they are easily removed. They never affected the balance of the pool.

I was a REC attendant at Rohan for a few months. These people work HARD to maintain TV standards. Not to mention these ridiculous and trivial complaints PLUS having to satisfy all the people indoor and out. So put on your big girl panties and toss it yourself or go to the nearest REC center and tell the folks at the desk what happened.

Sorry you ran into a non informed pool attendant and people commenting that do not know how to show compassion to others .
Their day is certainly coming .
Best to ignore ignorance in people . State law requires certain items be readily available for a public pool to be open , a net being one of them .
Health department would of shut the pool down if informed , especially if readings are not being
taken on sanitizer levels and recorded for everyone’s safety .

Folks who work at the rec centers are just people looking for a little extra money and may not have ever dealt with a mole face to face in their life. (I haven't) I would think they look like a rat, or some sort of brown furry creature you don't often have the opportunity to know. If I intended to remove the creature from the pool and the first attendant didn't know where the net was, I would ask someone else, or simply have gone to another pool. Usually the staff at rec centers are nice people, eager to help and polite. I don't know what there is about this time of year that we get a rash of reporting's on unfortunate and rather small things.

Is it someone on a brief visit who expected this place to never have flaws?

The pools don't have attendants. There is a rec center manager who monitors the rec center and 2 or 3 pools nearby. The managers don't clean the pools, and I don't think they are responsible for knowing where the net is stored.
