Default What village are you located in?

What village are you living in?

QUOTE=Stu from NYC;2095421]Is this from the turnpike?

As traffic increases as they build a third lane cannot imagine noise not getting worse.

Grew up under a JFK flight path and sure got tired of that noise real quick.[/QUOTE]

Seriously??? Comparing Spruce Creek South to The Villages is like comparing guys playing flag football in the park to the NFL.

I been in Spruce Creek. I'll take a little bit of noise over living there anytime. If fact, I would take a lot of noise.

Depending on the wind, I sometimes hear the turnpike from my St. Catherine house, which is one of the fartherest in that village.

A friend living near the turnpike put memory foam mattress toppers over the windows to deaden the sound.

Earplugs work great to deaden a lot of annoying sounds, especially those coming from a snoring partner.

I read all these complaints about traffic noises on the turn pike from
many areas.

One question I have: "What the sam hell is the matter with the developers"??

They sure must know ahead of time the problems, yet they force feed this kind of real estate development and hope all the buyers have hearing aids.

Do they really think us seniors are that Dumm?
Are homes cheaper next to the turn pike?

There will be more traffic as the area continues to be developed.

The turnpike was there long before the homes. It is not moving any time soon.
Should have notice this when you were checking that area out to purchase or build a home.

I have actually been going around and listening at different times and wind directions in both Deluna and St Johns where we are looking at houses.

The link below shows the historical wind patterns from a local weather station. It appears that the wind direction is about equal from east or west over the course of a year. I have seen sites that say the prevailing wind in central FL is from the SW but this interactive chart seems to show that the NE is more prevalent.

It's 4am and the Leesburg airport wx station is showing a 5mph wind from the NE. I am going grab some coffee and go check things out. Yes, I'll put on my hearing aids and no I don't have anything better to do right now. lol

Prevailing historical winds
Let us know what you hear...we are also watching the new area of Deluna! Near the middle, not right along the pike or 301. THANKS

These noise threads are popping about as frequently as dog poop threads.
Speaking of that ………no wait that would hijacking this thread.

Might it be too, you were so busy when you first moved and then then covid that traffic was almost nonexistent?
Now life is back to normal… this is your normal for the area?
Just my thought

Traffic noise really carries depending on topography and wind. You would need about 100 feet of dense forest for mitigation, not likely found hereabouts. Unfortunately, a prior poster’s recommendation applies, caveat emptor.
