I think that both of the areas shown look fine.

There is at least one courtyard villa neighborhood near Spanish Springs that every home has a tile roof

I love those homes. The differing roofs just add to their charm.

Default Realign your thinking...

I find your post quite annoying. Either you need to search out a charity to vounteer for, or get a job. Seriously, you are driving around looking at the roofs on homes?
If you know anything about construction, a barrel tile roof or a metal roof will far outlast
shoddy asphalt shingles.
I find that neighborhood quite charming. And those homes are far better built than any of the new construction being slapped up today.

You are.
Those are individually owned homes and they are very expensive. So is the roof that you are required to fork up around 25k+ to replace when you are told.

Default Architecture is Art

What you are observing is Architecture. I don’t mean that to be sarcastic or flippant, only as a statement.
Architecture is many forms is Art and others it is function and occasionally both.
Look at some of the famous streets of San Fransisco where you have all the different colored building all adjacent to one another and yet each one is a different color, it works.
Look at these homes, you noticed the roofs, but did you also notice that the paint and design features on each unit were different?
Did you notice that when you moved to the next set, the pattern repeated or may have been mixed but still the three patterns were the same?
Not everyone appreciates a VanGough or a Davinci but they were all great by those that admire the work.
Not all golfer like the Pete Dye courses and some don’t like the Palmer or Nicklaus designs, but not everyone needs to.
You don’t have to like this eclectic blend of designs, but don’t criticize those that do.

Did you knock on any doors and ask the owners? Drawing conclusions without knowing the facts generally leads to embarassment.

As the tile part of the roof needed to be replaces, they were either not available or too expensive. So the homeowner replaced that section with another product. The metal roof is the best solution. Not sure why the sections with asphalt roofing.

Then why on one side of the road are the exact same homes all have the same roofs? It's just an observation that I find interesting. Sorry if I've annoyed your delicate disposition.

Why would I knock on doors when I have all these 'experts" on TOTV?

IMO no reason metal roofs should not be allowed anywhere in villages I agree that they should control what color. Metal roof rarely ever have to be replaced. IMO the metal roofs in that non district controlled area would looked better if deep red or brown. I do agree green sticks out like big pimple. Even the light colored shingled roof sticks out. But, who really looks up at roofs anyway?

You should have researched the how, when and why before making video and comments.
