Friends and associates names came first, then computer generated lists. There are a few streets with the same name, but only 3 that I'm aware of.

That's because Marion County would not give up their numbering nomenclature. The developer wanted street names only, the county wanted county quadrants and numbers (like Miami and other cities in Florida). The compromise was what we have now. They both got their way. But try addressing two envelopes, one with 1234 Pine St. and one with 1234 SE 187th St., and they will both get there. The Post Office has both in their Zip system.

I'm 90% sure if anyone high enough up in TV ever reads that comment, that it will become a new add-on option to name your own street for $2000/year.

We live on Pagan Way in St. Catherine. Who was the braintrust who thought that was a good idea? I’ve been told it’s pronounced “pa gan’,”but it’s so much funnier the other way.

I think the management gets to play monopoly in naming streets. I believe IF YOU COULD GET ALL TO AGREE, and pay for the signs, you could change the name.

I WOULD. Grid pattern first second third STREET etc. The cross streets are first, second third AVENUE.

Marion County insists on "numbered" streets. The Villages uses names for streets ........ hence, the compromise.

It is all old school. Today everyone uses GPS.

Oh like Puh-Gahn, I get it, very fancy!

A few streets over is one of our faves....Baldeschwieler. That's our comparison right there...."it's a weird name but does it beat out Baldeschwieler?"

Apologies for those who live on Baldeschwieler.

Marion County uses a grid system for street names. The Villages uses some marketing genius’ idea. It is a pill to swallow, but we like it.

Never. But I stopped using "The Villages" for my city and now use Lady Lake. Reason: "The Villages" is considered to be primarily Sumter County, and having to point out that MY Villages home is physically located in the city of Lady Lake, in Lake County, is annoying to me. So I just say Lady Lake and that expresses what they needed to know.
