Just curious. What's considered high?

We'll be moving down in a few months. Just wondering what we can expect.

We have a heat pump and our electric bill was up a little more than 10% over last year. It definitely was colder than last year.

Normal bill. Keep in mind you have been home more, so perhaps you have the heat set a bit higher or more hours of heating; and if you have gas cooking, maybe cooking more also? There occasionally seem to be times that they change your billing date, so check to see if this bill was for the usual 30 days, or if last month's bill was much lower than usual perhaps due to it being estimated rather than read.

Default Ours high too

For comparison, our bill was almost double our average which is typically in the low $20's and $10 higher than last January's bill of $31.

Our bill was also unusual for December. A graph on my TECO account shows the average therms/day. For December it was 1.8. The prior December and then January and February it was .8 1.3 and 1.3 No significant changes to account for the significant jump (and yes I'm taking Covid, into the mix). I thought there was probably a faulty reading from their wand and it would adjust with the coming bill. We'll see.

Curious as to what do you keep your thermostat at during the day and at night.

My bill for December was $85 and usage (average therms) was double what it was last December. Gas heat/HWH/dryer/Stove. As noted earlier, this past December was much colder than last year. I did have similar high bills in past years when we had a lot of cold. I asked neighbors and a friend...all showed a significant increase.

I did check my meter and the numbers checked out close enough to the bill, so, not a reading error.

I keep indoor heat at 74 degrees; 2,000 sq ft house.

All elec house. Bill for Jan was almost double compared to last year. This year I was home all month, no holiday trip to visit family so that accounts for some of it. But I guess it was colder this year

Ours has been $15-$20 (just gas water heater & furnace). Recent bill was for $39. Ran heater on cool mornings for a few hours (set at 70).

Wow those prices are so cute! The cost of living in Canada is massively more expensive for just about everything.
