I remember reading something that came with last month’s bill about a raise in rate. Sorry but I don’t remember what it was. Maybe someone else remembers?

Default Indiana All Electric Rural Cost

Our 2866 sq. ft. all electric home with 6" insulated walls and R-38 attic insulation in Indiana with heat set at 74 degrees. Current bill was $411

Not complaining, prefer comfort to saving money on heat. We save on property taxes - 2.53 acres annual property tax is $800

Heat pumps are electric . no gas used. Keeping your hot tub or pool water warm? LOTS of gas. Tankless water heater uses gas vs the electric full tank heaters. These co-ops charge a much higher cost per therm than the major utilities.. Obviously check your therm usage, cost per therm, and rebates.
As an aside, my newer home has a steady state temperature of around 66-68 degrees in the cold months.. By noon the house is over 70. Bedrooms are cooler, making for pleasant sleeping. There;s been no need to use the heat.

Now, once the hot season starts, the electric bill will be a different story.

you all are funny - you buy homes for $ 200 -500,000 and worry about a $ 20 -40 gas bill. all you need to find out are how many therms you used or avg temperature .

$25 higher than same period last year. I chalked it up to the colder temps requiring the furnace to kick on more frequently.

Default Teco rates have indeed gone up!

Our November bill was $49 and the December one was $131. Page 5 of the bill talks about "as a result of our recent settlement..." the rates went up. I dug a little deeper to see what "settlement" and it was not so much of a "settlement" as permission to charge more for gas, and to charge more for "services" as well. Bend over, folks.

That mirrors ours almost perfectly. 1950 sq ft, 3 BR, chose the radiant heat barrier "upgrade" because we chose to volumize ALL rooms including baths, laundry, etc.

We rarely can tolerate over 70 degrees, maybe 72 in those winters when we get a few nights in he 30's. Gas furnace and water heater. May turn it on only an hour if the night has been extremely cold, over that it gets too hot for us. Bills for years have run from $18 to $22, not a lot of difference, had one really blistering winter, maybe 10 years ago ?? That winter we ran a $39 a month bill.
