Smile Now I've seen it all

Yesterday afternoon, approaching the Brownwood golf cart bridge from the south, there was a backup of about 10 carts. Several golf carts were coming off the bridge and stopping in the grass. One woman told me, "There is a car on the bridge." It did not make sense to me until I see a mid-size SUV driving down the MMP, coming from the bridge.
Fun in TV.

It happens, it's not the first time, and most likely won't be the last....

We went by there about 3:00 PM. It looked like a golf cart had been hit hard and cops were helping a tow truck to pick the golf cart up off the side of the car part of the bridge.

I don't understand why they never installed a bollard on the Richmond (South) side of the bridge to separate the golf cart lanes and prevent anything larger from entering. There's one on the Brownwood side.

Maybe they (who ever they are) thought, "what if we need to get a maintenance vehicle or tow truck up there? Let's leave it open on one end. Just in case..."

Second time since March 1 a car has been on the cart path Brownwood bridge. We were about to turn into the tunnel under Meggison and out comes a Porsche suv. Looked to be in his 80’s, yelling I live in DeLuna.

Tried to convince him to turn right and end up in UF Emergency Department parking lot. Nope I am going the way I know to get home.

The pole entering into Brownwood parking was down, so good guess he crossed the bridge.
Not much different than the older lady driving her golf cart, with her friend following in their golf cart, on BV, because it was the only way she knew to get to Seabreeze, last week.

I spoke to the driver and convinced him to continue across the field to Meggison, go off the curb and up to Brownwood. He really wanted to go back over the bridge. I was nice, and compassionate actually, but strongly encouraged him not to turn around. Thankfully he listened.

What bridge are you talking about? The Brownwood bridge doesn’t have a “car part of the bridge”. It’s golf carts only.

The bridge over Lake Sumter. You can see the Waterfront Hotel to the west.

It has a golf cart only section and one for regular traffic.
