The Villages should get uptodate and have an app on your cellphone that all amenities readers would recognize to know it's you. I charge on my cc on the phone, use it to get on a plane, get into national health clubs, etc. It's time for a Villages upgrade. You can still have cards but they would become obsolete.

For those that rent their house and their ID's are relinquished and the renters have the ID's and rights for the particular property that might be a good idea, not sure if those are accepted though as legit proof.

I have a photo of it on my phone so I have the number when I need it, but the staff will not accept a photo of it to scan - must be actual ID card. A good idea, however, is to get a clear phone case and just keep your ID behind your phone inside the case or a case that holds a card or two.

This is one reason why photos are not official ID's. Rental owners turn in their ID's but keep the photo.

Default Photo of ID

That use to work and still not a bad idea to have a photo. But I got written up for a 3rd time at dog park for not having the Original ID. I had my Driver's license and a photo of my ID however they made me fill out the Clipboard with my address, unit number ID number, etc and then I got a letter from Rohan saying I am on probation and may have my amenity Access restricted. it did not save for how long. Several times I was just driving by the dog park not intending to use an amenity And I stopped because I saw a neighbor's dog and had my dogs with me. My ID was in my Domino's bag. I have to switch it from my dominoes bag to Bocce bag it's a whole thing.

I have a picture of my ID and it has been scanned in the past. Recently, they will not accept it but I get my ID number off of it so they can manually log that. It doesn’t happen often. I take ID out of my purse to go to pool or Rec center activities and then forget to pick it up when needing purse to drive to event. It happens!

You could have picture, from a time you lived in the Villages and now live somewhere near by.

I have been told recently that the policy is the physical ID is the only acceptable ID. Yes, they can see the picture or read the number and it may even be clear enough for the scanner. But still, the physical ID is currently the only acceptable ID.

- At least two years ago there were announcements that digital IDs would be available on the Villages app soon. I gave up holding my breath some time ago.

- Yes, someone who has given up their ID in order to rent their house could still have a picture and may attempt to use it. However, there is no reason at all their online record could not be flagged such that any attempt to use that ID would return a message that it was not currently valid.

- The technology exists to work around this problem and either provide digital IDs or allow pictures to be accepted. It's a shame that a solution has not yet been implemented.

The iPhone has a feature that will allow your emergency contact names and phone numbers to be displayed while the cell is locked. Everyone should ensure this information is completed in case of an emergency. I have used it more than once to contact owners next of kind because about a loss phone.

PS, I'm old too.
I was recently at a rec center and if you didn’t have your ID, you simply completed a form
