Oh Goody. Now if we can talk some of our golfers to go play on those courses we will find it easier to get the tee times we want. Any volunteers?

You're right Gracie, although I think that it's our beautiful executive courses that really make it worthwhile. I think I could play Heron and Pelican every day and not tire of the scenery and wildlife. As a fellow Buckeye, I used to think that the Toledo area was pretty nice for inexpensive golf. Lots of very playable public courses and muni's for about $45 with cart. Of course, if I got to play as a guest at Inverness or play some other courses, the price would skyrocket. The Villages is lots of good golf at a fair price...what more could we ask for?

The executive courses are free for life. If you dont want to walk and then you wish to take a golf cart, you have to pay to rent for the cart. I think its $7. If you have your own golf cart, you can use that and pay annual trail useage fee. (This is to cover use of paths and maintenance and repair to grouds that is causedby cart useage.) It is common charge at every golf course everywhere. The trail fee for exec courses is around $143 a year. To walk is free, pull cart rental is $1.00, trail fee if riding is $4.00 per person, annual trail fee for household (1-4 residents) is $141.24 per year. For the 18 hole courses (they are nice ones here) you are already a member of the clubs but you pay-as-you-go on these "championship" courses. BTW, several of these are really quite nice! The fees change with the seasons and with the course and depends upon whether you are a resident, a premium member, a guest or a non-resident. There is a published chart of all these fees on TheVillages.com.

My wife and I belong to a golf club here in central Maryland. We did some calculations and determined that even with priority memebers, we can play more golf between March 15 and December 31 at TV for less than our CC at home. Meaning that the courses at TV are relatively inexpensive when considering the quality of the courses. We have plyed several and were never dissappointed. (Note the dates - we don't play in the winter in Maryland.) In Florida, winter golf is more expensive. To amiliorate cost, many residents go in outside TV in and play local courses. Some are very inexpensive.

The green fees/cart are just part of the expense of going outside the bubble to play golf. There is gas and wear and tear on your car plus the time of coming and going to the Course. It depends on what convenience and time is worth to you Wheather golfing outside the bubble is worth it----or not. Occasionaly, I like to golf outside the bubble to just do something different but I don't believe I really save much money----at Golden Ocala I actually paid more than if I had played Arnold Palmer and stayed in TV. You certainly can't beat the price of playing on our 30 or so Executive Courses.

Golfing outside the Villages is much less expensive and easier to get tee times even if you are a priority member. However, you have to be willing to go off campus.
